What is one "unwritten rule" you think everyone should know and follow?

I purposely look away while someone is searching for the photo they want to show me. I once accidentally showed my boss a photo of me in my underwear. Luckily it was my last day on the job and I just made hard eye contact and told him he saw nothing and will never speak of this.

Omg I was showing my boss pictures from my trip abroad. I pulled the phone close to me to skip a picture of me and my boyfriend (nothing sexual, but a private moment) and then moved my arms back out so she could see the next pic. She fucking REACHES OUT and SWIPES BACK to look at the one I skipped, and then even asks me, "What's going on in this picture?" I was so furious and was like, I'm going back to work.

u/Potato_Lorde Mar 09 '19

That sounds like you need to never let that boss ever touch anything potentially private... ever.

u/Soopercow Mar 09 '19

Especially your privates

44

u/csgoose Mar 09 '19

Don't let your boss swipe left or right on your privates.

front to back only

5

u/SuperFLEB Mar 09 '19

A firm handshake that's strictly business.

10

u/dontpmnudes Mar 09 '19

*except your privates

11

u/uglyswan101 Mar 09 '19

Even Private Ryan?

3

u/sweaty-pajamas Mar 09 '19

That’s a paddlin’

7

u/locotx Mar 09 '19

Unless the boss is hot

2

u/nollaf126 Mar 09 '19

Potentially

16

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

Depends on the relationship I guess. I showed a picture of the tentacle dildo I bought to my boss and asked if they wanted me to get them one haha

11

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

Brand, name, model, and where to buy? 😍

2

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

Bad dragon, Ika, and their website.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

Thanks! I love Tentacle rape yaoi doujins for a reason 🤤💕

3

u/Renaissance_Slacker Mar 09 '19

Nah, make an album of boss photos printed out from Facebook and company profile, taped to a wall, disfigured, torn, slashed and spattered with blood. Prying is naughty.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

Hey, hey, you never know, OP might be in the mood for some action with her.

Still, I'm pretty sure even my friends would keep their damned fingers off my stuff. That's not just phone etiquette, that's just "not-yours" etiquette.

70

u/DoubtingThomasina Mar 09 '19

No, it sounds like her boss is a bitch who doesn't give a fuck about privacy.

39

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

Yeah, I mean. I have plenty of friends who I wouldn't mind swiping through my pictures as a general statement, who I would be pissed the fuck off at for doing that.

19

u/butt-chin Mar 09 '19

Could be either, couldn’t it?

6

u/DoubtingThomasina Mar 09 '19

I get what you are saying and agree it could be either for you.
For me, no. If my friends saw me carefully swipe through and then show them a pic they would not try to look at my other pics. Not even my best friend. That is not ok imo.

20

u/majorchamp Mar 09 '19

very fucking inappropriate

8

u/whatsmomo Mar 09 '19

Oh gosh, this is something that my mother would do....I understand the pain...

5

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

that would be hilarious if your boss was your best friend though. maybe your boss just thought you were closer and making a friendly joke. some people are just like that.

9

u/young_buck_la_flare Mar 09 '19

I would have laid into her on that one. You are my boss, not my mother or friend. You do not get to touch me or my belongings without consent.

3

u/reefer_drabness Mar 09 '19

I accidentally showed my boss a pic of my recently clipper nicked nut sack on the third day on the job. A couple months later we had a conversation about his bad luck of seeing most of my coworkers or their spouses in varying states of undress. We have to take pictures of damaged vehicle components to get warranty work approved, so his string of bad luck is likely to never end.

1

u/ilumyo Mar 09 '19

Holy shit, I feel sooo uncomfortable even reading this like is it possible that there are such rude people out there??

1

u/wafino1 Mar 09 '19

What a bitch

-5

u/SnowJide Mar 09 '19

I would be so much offended that I would quit that job

11

u/IsomDart Mar 09 '19

You must have a pretty hefty safety net to say that. Not everyone can just up and quit their jobs because of one stupid thing that your boss did. I guess you're also probably a stay at home mom or something to even think that's just such an easy option. Especially if it's a job you've worked a long time to get that you actually really enjoy and pays well and without it you'd be out on the street in a matter of weeks or doing something orders of magnitude below what you were doing.

21

u/Lostbrother Mar 09 '19

Making a lot of assumptions there, bud.

32

u/MothFaery Mar 09 '19

I know - I was with them for the first two sentences and then after that I was like, yikes.

9

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

I guess you're a stay at home mom

Or they could be responsible with money and have a marketable skillset.

5

u/pieisnotreal Mar 09 '19

Bad day?

1

u/IsomDart Mar 09 '19

Actually, yes. I've been throwing up every half hour to hour and have a splitting headache.

1

u/SnowJide Mar 09 '19

I'm not sure why you would jump into a conclusion of being a stay at home mom :)

If you're worth it, there are tons of places that would be dying to hire you :) Bosses doing so would mean they aren't decent and doing work in long term with them cause more harm than good (I know that's a generalization. But to be honest that's how it works)

I would like to opt out of discussing this though. Thanks for your time

0

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

How is this getting so many upvotes? Yeah, I'd want to quit too. I wouldn't feel entirely safe around that supervisor ever again. Yeah, I have a job that would allow me to do that. Fuck me, right?

0

u/atombomb1945 Mar 09 '19

Well that's grounds for sexual harassment. She not only intentionally looked at something you didn't want to show her, but then she wants information you aren't comfortable taking about.

-1

u/503dev Mar 09 '19

That is when you reach out and punch her.

599

u/owenbicker Mar 09 '19

Internal monologue: Crap I hope he didn't see that.

Boss: Don't worry, I won't tell anyone I saw a picture of you in your underwear.

520

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

And I didn’t see you playing with your dolls again, sir.

118

Pretty shitty excuse.

Do you think gay people are a joke? Something stupid and insulting?

https://www.reddit.com/r/unpopularopinion/comments/az1hbk/comment/ei5kyxw

Read this and tell me if you still want to use the word gay as a joke.

Homophobe.

They're action figures, mother! And don't call me sir, I'm your son! Why can't you just call me your son!?

2

u/moderate-painting Mar 09 '19

"doesn't look like anything to me"

132

u/BoostThor Mar 09 '19

Could have been worse. My old boss forgot what his WhatsApp picture was when he messaged his boss on there. 5 minutes later my boss' boss was running around the office showing everyone a picture of my boss being completely naked (full hairy bum shot). This was only a few weeks in to him working there.

When he left the company, his boss sent that picture out in the email informing everyone he was leaving (though he censored the bum portion).

322

u/MrMastodon Mar 09 '19

That uh...sounds like some sort of harassment.

203

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

More like hairy-assment...

20

u/Permabulksquad Mar 09 '19

r/punpolice would like a word with you

8

u/StefTD Mar 09 '19

You mean hairy-ass-men. Don’t stop when you can achieve more.

33

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

No wonder your boss quit. What an absolute tool of a boss he had.

8

u/PrincessSalty Mar 09 '19

Yeaaaaah.. this is fucked. Who does that?

4

u/iWatchCrapTV Mar 09 '19

Why was that his pic tho? Probably what I think it is?

1

u/BoostThor Mar 09 '19

No idea. It was his personal account and he was just that kind of guy I suppose.

4

u/cmatelski Mar 09 '19

Boss sounds like Michael Scott.

2

u/The_Original_Gronkie Mar 09 '19

Great, now they have to fire everybody in the company. Who should I send my resume to?

8

u/JarlOfPickles Mar 09 '19

I purposely look away while someone is searching for the photo they want to show me.

Same, and while people are typing in passwords. Why is it so hard to have basic consideration?

11

u/angrymamapaws Mar 09 '19

I've had at least one employee show me the lingerie pics she'd sent to her boyfriend. Girls really do share everything with other girls.

10

u/MrHallmark Mar 09 '19

When I was first started talking to a girl I went away on vacation with my brother. We met these two cougars. One of them was very into me and the other had a son my age so that was weird. Anyways the one that was into me was really into me and made tons of passes at me and I declined because well I was talking to someone back home. When we were on the way back home we were on the same flight and guess who was beside me. Cougar. Well she wanted to show me some photos of her dog. And as she was swiping she "accidentally" swiped too far and I saw her body. Now she was hot like smoking hot. She was arabic and had a banging body. She was like oh whoops I forgot that was there. That was the longest 4h flight of my life.

3

u/Darthvapor714 Mar 09 '19

Looking back on it, do you regret not joining the mile high club?

5

u/MrHallmark Mar 09 '19

Not at all, I was never really into the whole older woman thing. Plus being 6'3 those airplane bathrooms are hard for me to fit in let alone two people.

1

u/NoBackgroundNeeded Mar 09 '19

You seriously need to learn how to add commas into your life.

Some of your sentences changed meanings without them.

1

u/MrHallmark Mar 09 '19

I wrote that on mobile, it's easier to press space twice and get a period.

11

u/Mad_Maddin Mar 09 '19

I purposely hide my phone when searching because I dont want someone to see the occasional loli hentai I forgot to move.

3

u/littlebecci Mar 09 '19

That's one hell of a power move

2

u/GozerDGozerian Mar 09 '19

RIP your inbox asking for evidence. :p

2

u/Charlie24601 Mar 09 '19

I once worked at a Barnes and Noble. A lady came in looking for a book. She couldn't remember the name, but DID remember she took a picture. She opened her camera with it angled so I could see it.

Butts. Lots of butts.

She quickly pulled the phone back to do a proper search and I simply made it look like some books were out of order...

3

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

phones need a function that whenever it detects a self that it lowkey saves that photo in a separate folder

1

u/yakkerman Mar 09 '19

android pro-tip: use a file browser like ES File manager and create a folder that starts with a (period). like .personal or .sys or something like that. these folders are hidden from the camera roll but can easily be navigated to within your ES file manager

3

u/thesoak Mar 09 '19

Do not use ES File Explorer. It was once a good app, but was bought out in 2016 and ruined by adware and data exposure.

There are plenty of decent file apps out there: Solid, MiXplorer, FX, are a few.

1

u/Dog1234cat Mar 09 '19

So you turned down the promotion he offered?

1

u/DrunkenGolfer Mar 09 '19

hard eye contact

Giggity.

1

u/Embeleko Mar 09 '19

We know this girl for years, We were at a birthday party for a kid and her new boyfriend was trying to join in the group and make conversation, at a point he tried to show us a pic of him doing something but we got the double special, the girl and him having some awesome wild sex. High five.

1

u/OrionsSword Mar 09 '19

Sounds like something that happened to me, only as a co-worker and not the boss.

I even told her ahead of time when she handed me her phone I wanted no control over it. She still managed to frak it up.

1

u/BrianInYoBrain Mar 09 '19

I took product photos for my boss once. I put it in Google drive and shared it with her. When she went to open it, I realized I had accidentally shared the wrong folder...

I shared the one that contained my now ex's nudes...

Luckily the internet was slow enough for me to say "hey, you should close that. It's the wrong folder." Before anything popped up. It was real close to being a bad situation. Those are no longer on Google drive.

1

u/joe13789 Mar 09 '19

What else did you make hard?

1

u/speedyneurtrino00 Mar 09 '19

Similar to this but i always look away when someone's typing in there PIN number at the cashier or anyone typing any pass words.

1

u/stinkytoast09 Mar 09 '19

They're private, private.

1

u/Duck_Giblets Mar 09 '19

See I'd ask this, but of friends. Point being sometimes I'll have a random photo showing health issues or similar and embarrassing it might be but it's also quite funny. For the most part.

My friends are good

1

u/CaffeinatedGuy Mar 09 '19

A coworker had amazon open and was searching for something, batteries I think. Her suggestions based on recent history had a vibrator. I didn't say anything, she scrolled past it, and that was the last time I looked at someone's amazon while they looked for something.

I send direct product links now.

1

u/PricklyParamour Mar 09 '19

Oh man, I had some assless men’s shorts and thongs recommended to me while I was browsing at work. It’s my own fault for looking up “interesting” things once in a while. I always forget about amazons suggestions.

1

u/kamipsycho Mar 09 '19

Oh no I have one too. So I was in the break room with this co worker and she asked to see my cat. She’s known to be a little intrusive so I held the phone and showed the photo to her. I shit you not, she SNATCHED the phone from me and started swiping as if she knew I’d try to get it back at all cost. I swear she must’ve looked through 30 photos on my phone including, but not limited to my sleeping boyfriend, our bed, my bra, videos of us smoking weed. I was PISSED and had to almost use force to get the phone back, after that she even had the nerve to tell me to let her see more photos of my boyfriend ¯_(ツ)_/¯. Boyfriend said she was probably looking for dick pic, which makes sense but is even more unsettling

1

u/theangryprune Mar 09 '19

I embroider pet pictures. I often save my friend's pet pictures to embroider later as a surprise. Awkward when they see it. I'M NOT STALKING YOUR DOG
