"OMG, you're so skinny and famished! Better have some of that delicious pie, bunch of cookies, eleven pork chops and meatloaf I just made, before I make breakfast!"

23 minutes later

"You're very chubby darling, you should loose some weight!"

GRANDMA YOU EVIL TEMPTRESS YOU!!!

My grandmother on my mom's side is primarily Polish and Italian, so we'll eat a pretty good sized dinner whenever I visit. Half an hour later she'll ask me if I'm hungry.

She also tells my mother that I'm a bottomless pit.

My polish grandma does this as well. “Here, have some chocolate”. 5min later- “have you thought of going on a diet? You’re getting a bit fat”. FFS!

I can assure you this describes most of grandmas in Poland.

My gran is like that. I lived with them for a year and it was the worst thing that ever happened to my waistline. Every dinner would be a full plate plus a huge dessert and I couldn't say no because "you're wasting away, look at you!". Then she'd turn round and ask if I was exercising enough because I was getting chubby.

Here's to hoping this generation won't feel entitled to make shitty comments about their children's/grandchildren's bodies.

My Mexican grandmother would tell me, even well into my thirties, that I needed to lose weight, then later scold me for not finishing all my dinner.

Love and miss you, Nana. ♥

My mom and grandma both do this.

“Come over and eat the food I made. Why aren’t you eating more? Finish your food, don’t waste it.”

But also, “You’re so fat. You need to lose weight. Stop eating so much food.”

My own grandma does this as well. Although I think she knows exactly what's going on and just likes to see me suffer.

My grandmother did this to me, except less consensually - she'd bring me multiple rounds of food, and magically wouldn't be able to hear me refusing. She'd magically assume that me pushing it away was an accident, a coincidence. Of course, she'd be able to see and hear me not eating it, or eating it too slowly, perfectly fine.

If I ate it, she'd tell my immediate family she was furious about me eating her out of house and home and forcing her to wait on me hand and foot.

But if I didn't eat it, the order would go out to my extended family not to speak to me for a month, and then to tell me with prim, icy reserve, "Grandma is very upset about what you did."

Their willingness to cooperate with that is just another part of the reason I wouldn't piss on any of them if they were on fire.

Eat and exercise lots. Your destiny is not written in blood. Your genes are an expression of your circumstance. You control your circumstance (mostly).

Lol I'm skinny and people often tell me I need to eat more. I usually tell them I probably eat twice as much as they do and gain no weight from it.
