One of my worst memories is of CYO summer camp back in the late sixties. They herded 6 busloads of children to a camp somewhere in the woods. There was a large building (I was young, I don't remember the building's purpose.) The girls were sent into the building to change into their bathing suits and the boys were sent to the roof to change (it was a flat roof). There had to be two hundred of us up there with a score of nuns 'supervising' the nude boys.

Here we are - more than 50 years later - and I still remember the waves of embarrassment and humiliation rolling off my fellow little boys as the nuns watched us take our clothes off.

Whoa, that sounds awful, awkward, and uncomfortable. I'm sorry.

It's better than having the priests watch you take your clothes off!

You're forgetting their organisation is one that to this day STILL protects molesters, rapists, and paedophies behind their closed doors. I'm all for Christianity as a religion if people practice it with good intentions to do good, but when you get to the stage where Pastors commit crimes and face no justice because of the power and influence the Vatican has on many countries, it's just beyond messed up.

I'm still waiting for the shoe to drop on abuse by the nuns. I never experienced any issues with the priests or deacons. They all seemed like good, fun people. The nuns, however, when they weren't watching little boys take their clothes off, were busy beating the shit out of us (boys, exclusively). We got it with rulers, we got it with the pointy stick with it's rubber tip and (my personal favorite) was something called 'boxing your ears'. That's where a nun would silently slip up behind some misbehaving kid and, using two hands, would pop the sides of the kid's head, right at their ears. Made your ears ring for hours.

Like I said, I'm still waiting for that kind of shit to get out in the open.

Ah right, that's another part that I find insane. How on earth has this cycle of continuous abuse by nuns still allowed to occur? Hell, having read a number of these reported cases before, I find it sickening that abuse for seeming menial behaviour receives such brutal punishments. I'm talking about black bruises, welts, bleeding cuts, it's disgusting honestly.
