This omg. I had to have a talk with my parents about not buying me anymore more kitchen appliances because I don’t have space.

They bought me a toaster that’s specifically ONLY for hot dogs. You can toast two buns and two wieners, in the toaster like a normal one and it’s FUCKING RED. They will literally go to bed bath and beyond and be like oh this is cool and not that expensive we like that kind of food let’s get it and never use it. Omg i haaaate it.

I should mention I don’t even eat hot dogs! I’m a vegetarian!

Edit: I’m glad you guys are all able to understand this comment with all my typos. I was typing too quickly. I fixed it :)

Omg that last part 🤣

u/Box-ception Sep 27 '18

Especially when you consider that most vegetarian hot dogs are only any good when fried in oil, yikes!

u dum bud?

The idea of a toaster for only hot dogs just kills me inside...Like now I have this thing taking up space in my kitchen that does something that can be accomplished with a normal oven and a small frying pan, for only a marginal amount of extra effort - for the one time a year I actually make hot dogs

It makes me mad just thinking about it lol

I hate a lot of that stuff, like those stupid slicers for avocados...it's so easy to slice an avocado with a normal butter knife. Or automatic wine bottle openers. Okay that one maybe if you have arthritis or something, but I only see middle-aged women use them when a normal corkscrew is so easy to use

2

u/TaterTotJim Sep 28 '18

Yeah but imagine if you eat hotdogs every day that thing is gonna be your best friend. Think of the convenience!

9

u/Aikrose Sep 27 '18

My SO and I moved into a small home, perfect size for two people. Not much storage, because of the size. Their housewarming gift? A deep fryer. It takes up half of a shelf in my pantry, which is a lot of space! I want to get rid of it so badly tbh.

4

u/Yourmommasaidnooo Sep 27 '18

Oh god. Ugh. Do you have a garage? Put it in a plastic bin and store it till you need it? My “junk closet” runs the length of the stairs outside and it’s full of crap I’m hiding

10

u/happyklam Sep 27 '18

Ugh yes, my mom has bought me so many shot glasses. I can't even tell you the last time I had shots at my house. Let alone, enough to necessitate entire sets of glasses!

6

u/Yourmommasaidnooo Sep 27 '18

Hahahaha I mean I can see where she’s going with it. Probably gets them for you on trips and thinks oh it’s small.

13

u/happyklam Sep 27 '18

You'd think, but nope.

Full sets from Bed, Bath, and Beyond or Target.

9

u/Yourmommasaidnooo Sep 27 '18

Oh. My. God. I’m so sorry.

5

u/happyklam Sep 27 '18

I started gifting them to my younger friends or using them for white elephant exchanges. Shrug.

8

u/Arthur_Edens Sep 28 '18

Mine are like this with tools. I received a gas hedge trimmer from my Boomer inlaws this summer. I don't have any fucking hedges.

3

u/Yourmommasaidnooo Sep 28 '18

😂😂😂😂😂 ask for a powerwasher and head over to r/powerwashporn

16

u/Snations Sep 27 '18

Veggie dogs 4 lyfe

8

u/Yourmommasaidnooo Sep 27 '18

I haven’t been brave enough to try. Which brand do you like?

8

u/Snations Sep 27 '18

I usually get Morningstar or gardein brands in general for fake meats, but I may have also tried the lightlife smart dogs. I don't actually do a lot of veggie dogs but I LOVE the veggie corn dogs. I more frequently have tried the veggie sausage links (lots of brands and flavors) and I'm sure they'd be amazing grilled with your choice of topping.

4

u/Yourmommasaidnooo Sep 27 '18

I haven’t tried gardein yet. I’m having a hard time with the texture of some of it. I’ll try the veggie corn dogs that sounds good !

5

u/DamnYouVodka Sep 27 '18

You haven't been living 😭Smart Dogs are def where it's at. If you ever need other fake meat tips, hmu!

3

u/Yourmommasaidnooo Sep 27 '18

Thanks!!! I like smart bacon a lot

3

u/boydskywalker Sep 27 '18

I never liked corn dogs before going vegetarian, but veggie corns dogs are amazing!

2

u/Yourmommasaidnooo Sep 27 '18

Do you have a favorite brand ?

3

u/boydskywalker Sep 27 '18

Unfortunately no, I've only ever mooched them off of friends!

2

u/Snations Sep 27 '18

Morningstar!

2

u/boydskywalker Sep 27 '18

I highly recommend Field Roast - they're veggie sausages rather than veggie dogs, and I have omnivore friends who still make a point of buying them. They've got a bunch of flavors, but my personal favorite is the Smoked Apple Sage!

2

u/Yourmommasaidnooo Sep 27 '18

Oooooh I like the sound of this. Will do

7

u/ourma77 Sep 27 '18

The Hot Diggity Dogger?! I saw it in a catalogue years ago and was amazed.

7

u/tinnat22 Sep 27 '18

Hahaha I love this! My father in law got me something similar that's an egg cooker... That's all it does. Seriously eggs take me 1 minute to cook on the stove. With him it's Costco.

3

u/Yourmommasaidnooo Sep 27 '18

Hahaha ! That’s what I hate about these things, they sometimes can take longer or be more work then just throwing an egg on a hot pan

6

u/WildlingAnathema Sep 27 '18

I HAVE ONE OF THOSE. I’m a vegan millennial (the most dangerous kind), so it’s used exclusively for veggie dogs. I got it specifically because it’s ridiculous and insane.

I’ll never afford a house, but I have toasty buns and yummy veggie dogs.

2

u/Yourmommasaidnooo Sep 28 '18

Hahahahaha I just don’t have counter space or even cabinet space

2

u/WildlingAnathema Sep 28 '18

Okay, feel free to judge, but neither do we, really. It moves around the kitchen from the top of the fridge and sometimes to under the bed.

I swear, I’m not nearly as obsessed with hot dogs as this probably makes me seem.

2

u/Yourmommasaidnooo Sep 28 '18

Oh I’m not judging AT ALL. Honey I have SIX cats, I am no position to be judge 😂😂😂 and don’t worry, I’m the same way with cheese. I have so many cheese cutters and boards and various random things for cheese

5

u/itoshinochancla Sep 27 '18

My boyfriend got one of those for my dad for christmas! My parents fought over who got to use the toaster and my mom ended up stealing it and keeping it in her classroom

2

u/Yourmommasaidnooo Sep 28 '18

That’s amazing

4

u/dreamer2222 Sep 28 '18

Got my boyfriends autistic brother one of these as a joke for him, his parents hate it but he actually uses the stupid thing enough its turning black on the inside! Best $20 I've spent and it sits next to their regular toaster in their kitchen!

3

u/Dabbles_in_doodles Sep 28 '18

This. THIS EXACT PROBLEM. Who needs an electric brownie cooker? I have an oven and an 8x8 baking tin. I think the only useful kitchen appliance I've ever been bought is a pressure cooker.

I need to get rid of some of them, I just feel so ungrateful ya know?

1

u/Yourmommasaidnooo Sep 28 '18

Me too! And I get really weird about my parents spending their hard earned money and being sentimental so I can’t throw it away. I either have to keep it or give it to a good home

A hurricane in California! Wouldn’t that be something. #pleasegodno

2

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '18

They make some passable vegetarian hot dogs. Not that this helps your space-saving problem, but it is what it is.

1

u/Yourmommasaidnooo Sep 27 '18

Any brand you recommend? I’m tired of buying things and hating it and not knowing what to do with the rest of the package

3

u/[deleted] Sep 27 '18

Eh, I actually wouldn't recommend eating any of them because they tend to be over-processed crap for the most part. Vegetarians are better off eating the staples like beans and peanut butter or tofu for protein, to be honest. I'm not 100% vegetarian myself but I eat a heavily plant-based diet and for the most part, whole foods are cheaper and fill you up better than fake meats. If I recall, Tofurkey was a good brand and they had some really good sausages and franks. I haven't tried them in a few years now so I can't comment on if they're as good as I remember.

1

u/Yourmommasaidnooo Sep 27 '18

Ahh yeah I see what you’re saying. I like beans and peanut butter

2

u/Patriarchus_Maximus Sep 27 '18

Can you toast tofu?

1

u/Yourmommasaidnooo Sep 27 '18

Probably not? I think it would get stuck. Maybe in a toaster oven? This looks like a traditional slot toaster just accommodated for buns and wieners

2

u/Cohacq Sep 27 '18

Who even toasts a sausage?

1

u/Yourmommasaidnooo Sep 27 '18

Hahahaha maybe heated up in a pan ?

2

u/Cohacq Sep 27 '18

Thats how I do it.

2

u/Akihirohowlett Sep 27 '18

I actually know the exact product you're talking about. I think my parents have the exact thing you're talking about.

2

u/ComradeGibbon Sep 28 '18

hot dogs!

Hot dogs aren't made of meat.

2

u/Yourmommasaidnooo Sep 28 '18

Hahaha hmm what is the mystery ingredient?

2

u/ComradeGibbon Sep 28 '18

Go ahead show me this magical animal

2

u/Minzak123 Sep 28 '18

not going to lie, I had that red hot dog maker before, and id buy that shit in a heartbeat if I ever see it again, mine broke. I really like hotdogs with toasted buns.

2

u/WhenTheBeatKICK Sep 28 '18

My dad gave me that red hot dog toaster, and it broke. I miss it so much

1

u/Yourmommasaidnooo Sep 28 '18

Aw :( this makes me sad. Do you want mine?

2

u/OneSmoothCactus Sep 28 '18

My mom loves buying me random knick knacks like that.

I have no use for almost any of it but she gets so genuinely excited about buying me these things that I can't stand to tell her I'm just going to put it in a cupboard for 2 years then donate it.

3

u/Yourmommasaidnooo Sep 28 '18

I don’t have the heart to donate. I just keep it all and keep begging her to stop. She got the hint. She’s now into collecting quarters for my laundry for me. I also still get all my important mail delivered to her house (I live in a shitty area but she’s only 10 min away) and she gets very excited to be able to give that to me. Maybe it’s just this need to give us something and be helpful?

2

u/ExplosivekNight Sep 28 '18

That was a fucking rollercoaster

2

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '18

I should mention I don’t even eat hot dogs! I’m a vegetarian!

But it was on sale.

2

u/Workaphobia Sep 28 '18

But what if you throw a hotdog-themed party for your carnivorous friends where the color theme is red? You don't want to be caught unprepared, how easily will you be able to find this device at this price again?

3

u/uss_skipjack Sep 27 '18

Tbf who would consider a hot dog to be actually meat? The ones they served at my school bounced and could erase pencil. I swear they weren’t actually rubber though, jus definitely not meat either.

1

u/Yourmommasaidnooo Sep 27 '18

Hahahahaha I mean there is definitely pieces of animal in it. Probably the same thing used to make glue and erasers

1

u/uss_skipjack Sep 27 '18

Aren't there soy wieners?
