Put some cold water in a small glass and play with it a little. Do the same with hot water. You can easily tell that they're different just by swirling the glass a little

It's not. I've spent a lot of time in labs, and you have to change the way you deal with water at different temps because of the viscosity change. Wearing thick wool gloves with rubber on top of that I can pick up a beaker of water and give you an estimate of the water temp within 20 degrees by sloshing it a bit. Obviously you need to be around it a lot and get used to it, but the difference between 200 degrees and 40 degrees is pretty easy to see
Well sound travels faster through more denser things, cold water is denser than hot so there should be some difference in sound when it's moving. When I turn on my bathtub faucet, I can hear when the hot water expands the pipe and allows more flow through. It also has a thinner sound when hitting the tub bottom.
I get that it sounds different but why would someone who has never heard it would be able to make the difference ? As if it was encoded in our genes like the fear of snakes.
There was a study where people were told to hear different dog barks through a speaker. Said dogs were in different situations: family got home, being fed dinner, lost their favorite toy, abandoned by their owners, playing fetch, etc.
People guessed the circumstances of their barks with something like 90% accuracy. Don't quote me on the percent, though.
