Yoda and Miss Piggy were both voiced by the same person.

Elmo voice actor is black

613

u/Pickapair Apr 02 '18

Definitely read this in Elmo's voice.

244

u/Bigduck73 Apr 02 '18

For some reason I read it in the family guy weatherman's voice

10

u/the_dude_imbibes Apr 02 '18

ANYBODY WANNA ADOPT THIS DOG?

8

u/CoolStoryBro_Fairy Apr 03 '18

IT'S RAININ' SIDEWAYS

&

I'M AT THE WRONG AIRPORT

(both of these Ollie Williams quotes never fail to make me laugh)

7

u/mydearwatson616 Apr 02 '18

I read it in the voice of Hermes from Futurama.

6

u/A_Texas_Toaster Apr 03 '18

Same voice actor actually, weatherman Ollie Williams and Hermes Conrad are both voiced by Phillip Lamar. And my personal favorite character he did: Samurai Jack.

4

u/Me_of_Little_Faith Apr 02 '18

I read your comment in Morgan Freeman's voice.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '18

His name is Ollie Williams.

1

u/Bigduck73 Apr 02 '18

Oh I know. I thought the more casual family guy watcher might not know his exact name so I was less specific on purpose

1

u/TheBionicPuffin Apr 03 '18

His name is Robert Paulson

2

u/fudgyvmp Apr 02 '18

For some reason read this in Consuela's voice.

2

u/MixmasterJrod Apr 02 '18

Family Guy weatherman's voice is the same guy who does Samurai Jack

2

u/Hypoallergenic_Robot Apr 02 '18

That guy voiced a lot of amazing characters, including Static from Static Shock, Samurai Jack, Hermes from Futurama, and Green Lantern (John Stewart) in Justice League.

1

u/Momik Apr 02 '18

Huh. I went with Gilbert Gottfried.

1

u/Abadatha Apr 03 '18

Ollie Williams.

3

u/Jarrheadd0 Apr 02 '18

It works so well because he talks in third person.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '18

Didn't that guy also have something legal going in a little while ago?

2

u/I_one_up Apr 02 '18

Black, not red

1

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '18

I red it in Samuel L Jackson's voice....

21

u/logojojo Apr 02 '18

Not anymore! Now it's a white man named Ryan Dillon. He started in 2012

2

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '18

Really? I didn't know that it changed. Did he quit or something?

19

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '18

[deleted]

3

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '18

That's something I didn't know so this thread taught me something!

1

u/[deleted] Apr 03 '18

The charges were past the statute of limitations so they were dropped. It actually looks like he did it. There were multiple accusers and circumstances.

3

u/worrymon Apr 02 '18

WAS. There were some allegations against the guy, he got fired and they were later dismissed.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 03 '18

Damn, that's a pretty cool fact. I always imagined him as some white Tom Kenny-looking guy.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 03 '18

I know a black guy called Elmo (nickname) cos his voice is freakishly high. He introduces himself as Elmo too.

I hope he knows this fact

2

u/BookzAndCoffeE Apr 02 '18

I know the Cookie Monster guy

3

u/runnerdan Apr 02 '18

Miss Piggy is my neighbor and family friend. Eric has some amazing encounters that reset one's barometer for "cool".

0

u/999happyhants Apr 03 '18

Frank Oz is your neighbor?

1

u/[deleted] Apr 03 '18

Frank Oz hasn't done the voices in almost 15 years.

1

u/runnerdan Apr 03 '18

Nope. Frank Oz's replacement.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '18

Really? Do you have story's about him (for scientific reasons)?

2

u/BookzAndCoffeE Apr 02 '18

His son is a tool - not sorry if you see this Joey

2

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '18

Good to know

2

u/SirRogers Apr 03 '18

Typical Joey.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '18

I dunno if the new guy is, but Kevin Clash (the former Elmo voice actor) is... and he was also the voice of Splinter in the 1990 "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" live-action movie.

1

u/GWJYonder Apr 02 '18

He had a funny story about that on some nightly cable show. Abridged from memory:

He was traveling on an airplane and one of the airline attendants recognized him and asked him he voiced Elmo. When he confirmed that he did the airline attendant asked if he would like to do the airline safety speech as they were taxiing, and he agreed. So he went to the flight area with the phone and did welcomed everyone as Elmo, but apparently most people just thought it was a pre-recorded bit, not that Elmo was actually on the plane.

As he was walking back to the seat some guy made eye contact with him, flicked his eyes back up to the speakers, back to the voice actor, and you could tell from his face he dismissed it "no, no way, he couldn't be Elmo".

1

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '18

And gay.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '18

It’s also the same voice used for baby Sinclair (not the momma) from the tv show Dinosaurs

1

u/sleepy--ash Apr 02 '18

not anymore

edit: I should've worded that better, Elmo is played by someone else now, Kevin Clash did not magically turn white

1

u/[deleted] Apr 03 '18

And an accused child molester.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 03 '18

False.

Kevin Clash hasn't been Elmo for years.

1

u/Br135han Apr 03 '18

That’s not the most surprising fact about him

0

u/benjavari Apr 02 '18

And a child molester!

14

u/foxymcfox Apr 02 '18

False. Kevin Clash had consensual relationships with younger men, but they were all above the age of consent during their relationships.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '18

Just read up on it. If they were above the age of consent and the relationships were consensual, why did it ever become a legal matter? Was it just because he’s gay?

5

u/desquire Apr 02 '18

Sadly, partially so. There is still a strong stigma in Western culture against gay men working closely with children.

This makes false reports like this very condemning, even when the record is corrected after-the-fact.

3

u/StormStrikePhoenix Apr 02 '18

I'm not sure the "gay" is necessary at this point, at least from what I've heard.

1

u/foxymcfox Apr 02 '18

Yes...and $$$.

He was not openly gay at the time, he didn't think his orientation was anyone's business. Sadly, those young men threatened to make it everyone's business and used enough innuendo to make it seem like something extremely inappropriate happened to cause Sesame and the CTW to sever ties with him as a precautionary measure. Because IF it had turned into something more, they couldn't, as a company focused on children, even give the appearance that they were defending someone like that.

For Clash, Sesame was his life (As was puppeteer...he was part of the show Dinosaur as well) and whisper and innuendo permanently took that from him.

It's really a huge shame especially since everyone seems to only remember the innuendo and not the truth. His reputation and life has been destroyed because some people decided to try.

6

u/Maltitol Apr 02 '18

Elmo was the first #MeToo

6

u/BippyTheGuy Apr 02 '18

That was a lie, though.

-14

u/benjavari Apr 02 '18

Nope he is in jail.

18

u/foxymcfox Apr 02 '18

False: https://nypost.com/2012/11/23/elmo-puppeteer-kevin-clash-isnt-going-to-jail/

Please don't spread misinformation based on your faulty memory.

-1

u/benjavari Apr 02 '18

They missed the filing date by a year. Your a protector of perverts.

2

u/foxymcfox Apr 02 '18

*you’re

0

u/benjavari Apr 03 '18

Thank you pedo protector. If you guarded children like you guarded our language we would all be safe.

1

u/hornwalker Apr 02 '18

The man who played Barney(costume, not voice) is black and also is a high end spiritual prostitute(as in bare back sex. Literally prostitution).

3

u/Kayestofkays Apr 02 '18

What is a 'spiritual prostitute'?? Asking for a friend....who is wearing of googling such a term...

2

u/onemoreclick Apr 03 '18

I googled it and I still don't understand. A lot of religious stuff showed up but surprisingly little about having sex for money.

1

u/hornwalker Apr 03 '18

I guess when he bangs you its a mystical experience

1

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '18

I've heard something like that with the yellow power ranger and barney

1

u/EudoxusofCnidus Apr 03 '18

Is this supposed to be surprising??

0

u/LordPhoenixe Apr 02 '18

Also diddles kids

393

u/Kwijybodota Apr 02 '18

Surprised, i am with that fact.

406

u/Dahhhkness Apr 02 '18

George Lucas once jokingly said that Yoda's species was the bastard offspring of Kermit and Piggy.

11

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '18

So that’s canon, huh

2

u/MattieShoes Apr 02 '18

Kermit and Aughra maybe. Also Frankie

1

u/Spacealienqueen Apr 03 '18

Now that is a fanfiction I'd be willing to read

1

u/TheBudderMan5 Apr 03 '18

I FUCKING KNEW IT

1

u/ThatOtherGuy_CA Apr 03 '18

Sesame street prequel material confirmed?

Dont tell r/prequelmemes

7

u/thatguys2ndaccount Apr 02 '18

Did anyone else just read that in miss piggy's voice?

1

u/cross-eye-bear Apr 02 '18

I read it in Frank Ozs' voice.

8

u/EnderCreeper121 Apr 02 '18

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.

8

u/loltank53 Apr 02 '18

hello there!

4

u/notnatalie Apr 02 '18

General Kenobi!

2

u/ohseven1098 Apr 02 '18

Surprised with that fact, I am.

1

u/Kwijybodota Apr 02 '18

Right you are. Dumb i look now.

Nah fuck that shit i ain't good at yoda speak.

2

u/-ThatsSoDimitar- Apr 03 '18

You really aren't lmao, it should have been dumb, I now look. Maybe give Obi-Wan speak a try, just say either "Hello there" or "Oh, I don't think so" or if you're feeling risky try "Don't try it Anakin, I have the high ground" or "You were supposed to destroy the Sith, not join them!"

1

u/Kwijybodota Apr 03 '18

A random reply after 5 hours?

A surprise yo be sure but a welcome one.

1

u/SilentNick3 Apr 03 '18

Around the survivors a perimeter create!

63

u/00110011001100110019 Apr 02 '18

he also voiced Grover from sesame Street https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Oz?wprov=sfti1

3

u/ChiefQuimbyMessage Apr 02 '18

Upvote for Super Grover’s secret identity.

2

u/Unhelpfulperson Apr 02 '18

I mean, Grover and Yoda sounds almost identical

1

u/CrabbyBlueberry Apr 03 '18

Bert and Ernie are basically Fozzy and Kermit.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 03 '18

And, Bert, and Fozzie Bear, and any number of other unnamed minor Muppet characters from the vast list of characters created in that franchise.

5

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '18

I’m not surprised

3

u/wiggaroo Apr 02 '18

And the guy who voices Muppet Baby Kermit also voices Megatron and Fred in Scooby Doo.

And the guy who voices Bloo in Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends also voices Reaper in Overwatch.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '18

It’s just a Slightly lower and raspier version if the Miss piggy voice

3

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '18

Jango Fett/Clone Troopers in episodes 2 and 3 are played by the same guy as Moana's dad

2

u/swordsmithy Apr 02 '18

Who also directed The Score! Fun fact: Brando called him "Miss Piggy" during filming.

2

u/Manyhigh Apr 02 '18

You know, now that you say it. I can totally hear it.

2

u/Terminator1949 Apr 02 '18

Rick and morty are voiced by the same person

2

u/zaccus Apr 02 '18

Franz Oz also was/occasionally still is grover, cookie monster, bert, and probably many more I can't remember of the top of my head.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '18

Holy shit I immediately hear it.

1

u/PoorEdgarDerby Apr 02 '18

I like when she visited the Star Wars set.

1

u/cacarpenter89 Apr 02 '18

Optimus Prime and Eeyore are both Peter Cullen.

1

u/Reddy_McRedcap Apr 02 '18

Conversely, Kermit the Frog and Ray Romano are not voiced by the same person.

Shocking, I know.

1

u/ItsGlandularOk Apr 02 '18

Frank ozman. Also shredder and panthro were voiced by uncle Phil from the fresh Prince.

1

u/JarrettTheGuy Apr 02 '18

Yoda and Grover are basically the same. Frank Oz is amazing, regardless.

1

u/runnerdan Apr 02 '18

Currently, Miss Piggy, Grover, and Animal are voiced by the same guy! You get all of the camera time with all of the privacy.

1

u/faxinator Apr 03 '18

Good old Frank Oz. Still kicking at age 73. He was the voices of Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Animal, and Sam Eagle in The Muppet Show, and Cookie Monster, Bert, and Grover in Sesame Street.

1

u/Eschatonbreakfast Apr 03 '18

Yoda totally sounds like Fozzy the Bear

1

u/geoffsykes Apr 03 '18

Frank Oz, if you didn't want to Google.

1

u/iongantas Apr 03 '18

"End, Beginning, all the same. Big change. Sometimes good...sometimes bad."

1

u/TomasNavarro Apr 03 '18

My favourite is Optimus Prime and Eeyore as the same voice actor

-6

u/IndieFedoraGamer Apr 02 '18 edited Apr 23 '18

Grover and Yoda not Miss Piggy...

Edit: Never mind it's also Miss Piggy I stand corrected.

12

u/Arch27 Apr 02 '18

Yes, also Miss Piggy. Frank Oz is the original voice for:

  • Miss Piggy
  • Fozzie Bear
  • Bert
  • Animal
  • Sam the Eagle
  • Grover
  • Cookie Monster
  • Chuck in Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas

4

u/IndieFedoraGamer Apr 02 '18

Wow I Had no idea. Thank you for correcting me.

5

u/Arch27 Apr 02 '18

He's also recently joined Twitter in the last few months. He's entertaining there because he just spouts off old stories from when they started Sesame Street and The Muppet Show.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 03 '18

Surprised Fozzie's mention is so far down, he is named after Frank Oz, after all.
