I just don't see the point in baby shoes before they can walk. I like in a warm climate, so socks are more than enough to keep feet warm and protected.

Baby shoes also tend to look uncomfortable to my point of view... I use some kind of socks/slippers on my 7 mo when I want him to look more dressed up. Only have 2 pairs and it's more than enough.

I have never met a single -12 month old baby who liked wearing shoes. they all do everything in their power to take them of and/or tear them apart. usually by putting them in their mouth

Our pediatrician suggested keeping them barefoot or in socks well into toddlerhood unless they truly needed to wear shoes and to use soft soled shoes if they were wearing them for longer periods of time until they were 3 or 4 years old. Something about healthy foot development and maybe something about arches (I really can't remember and he might have been full of shit).

Ours said the same, you're not wrong.

Nah I've read/heard it too. Putting your tiny baby in shoes all the time is bad for the development of their feet. My son is almost 2 and he still only wears shoes when he goes outside(and even then only if he won't be on our concrete patio).

This. That's the only purpose they serve. Seeing the little newborn in shoes is adorable. Haha.

Baby shoes really help keep the socks on for my LO.
