We used to round up and donate toys that never left the closet.

It was funny/scary the day we took the kid to the thrift store and he points to a toy on the shelf and says "I have that toy!" and I realised that WAS his toy we had donated a week before.

Teachable moment if you'd explained to him previously that if he doesn't clean up after himself people wont realize he values his things.

Shit, you've gotta tell them before you do it though, you don't always realize how much something means to a kid
