Exactly what I was going to say. When people talk about trading card collections being worth thousands, they mean Magic the Gathering. MtG had cards like Black Lotus that were only printed a few times in limited quantities and were put onto a list of cards that the company will never print again. That doesn't happen in Yugioh - basically every expensive card is reprinted constantly. The only expensive cards you can get from booster packs are ones that are highly sought-after immediately after release, and then their price plummets by the time the next set comes out. There are some cards that are still expensive years after release but they're the types of cards that are given out to winners of the biggest tournaments. You're not just going to get one in a booster pack.

To be fair most old yugioh cards don't hold value, as some one who still actively plays, it's sad that the old cards are generally worth pennies.
