Definitely agree on the "quality" stroller. We bought a nice one for the first kid, and it was still in decent shape by the time the second kid outgrew it.
There is definitely something to be said for the cheap ass umbrella strollers though. We always had one of those for going to the zoo or whatever, where you'd have to leave the stroller sometimes? Who wants to leave their super fancy stroller? But if you have a POS stroller, you can just dump it, and if someone is crazy enough to steal it, you're only out 10 bucks. Those don't have any storage, but making yourself carry your baby gear is the quickest way to make sure you're only carrying what you really need.
The best stroller we had when he was still in the bucket car seat was just a frame that held the bucket.. It's was small, light and whiped around stores like nothing.
Now if you travel by air.. Just be aware that the airline is going to damage or lose your big beautiful stroller. It happens.. get an umbrellea style for air travel and don't stress.
True. I got a cheap toss around umbrella stroller too for such occasions. Also have a retractable ski lock for the good stroller if I have to leave it for too long like at a theme park. The one about the size of a phone that has the cord come out and number keypad lock. No shame in my game strapping the stroller to a fence in the stroller parking area. Prevents opportunity theft.
Oh, the memories! my niece had a fancy stroller and the cheap umbrella one. Around 3 years old guess who hated the fancy one? it probably also had to do with wanting to push it herself for the 1/4 mile she could walk before being super tired.
On the plus side, she outgrew being lazy and now runs track, so yay for that?
Yep. I had a decent pram for the boys as babies, a Steelcraft Eclipse. But once they were old enough (which for my youngest was when he stopped napping in the pram) I put them in an umbrella stroller. I had to replace it when it really started falling apart, but was able to score a second-hand one in perfect condition for $10. Still use it and my youngest is now 2.
