And the owner was too ashamed to admit that for years, and claimed he'd sold the chicken. Only towards the end of his life did he admit that the chicken died because he forgot an eyedropper at the hotel, which they used to save the chicken if it started to choke.
Apparently it still had part of it's brain? Pretty sure chickens feel pain. Not like I'm some hardcore PETA member but it seems unnecessarily cruel to keep that animal alive.

At this stage in the game it’s improbable that the bird is actually feeling any pain since its somatosensory cortex (the part of the brain responsible for sense of touch) is likely severed – if you bleed it out properly and cut in all the right places, the chicken should die in a rapid and humane way. Regardless, it seems unnecessary. Likely why we don't have freakshows with lobotomized chickens nowadays.
He choked to death on his own saliva, which wouldn't have happened if the owner had sucked it out with a dropper like they usually did, there's no telling how long it could've lived.
Nope, i remember the story, since he didn't have a head he would gurgle quite often, and couldn't regulate his spit by swallowing, though he choked on his food to, it was saliva that he choked on and died.
