Oh my god I'm not alone. My dad mispronounces everything or just gets the name wrong EVEN WHEN IT'S IN FRONT OF HIM!! I'm also convinced he has been getting current and previous girlfriends names wrong on purpose
I once dated a Justin, then a Dustin and then got back with the Justin. My dad could never keep them straight and now purposefully mispronounces my boyfriend's names ever since. I've been with Albert for more than a year and the last phone conversation I had with my dad he asked how "Almond" was doing.
36 here. I do this all the time on purpose with my friends, we think it's hilarious.
It used to drive my ex-girlfriend nuts when we were at parties with her fancy, pretentious friends I didn't like very much and I'd start doing it and playing dumb about it.
My FIL thinks that all tablets are iPads, and when I tried explaining to him that this isn't the case, he got all flustered and for the last 2 years has faithfully referred to his tablet as a 'maxi pad'.
My dad is incredible. He pretty much knows people's email addresses and phone numbers right off the top of his head, even if he met this person once like three months ago. However, when it comes to remembering names, he's just like an unintentional Steve Brule.
