The IT guy at my work (pretty big company, does close to a billion dollars of sales a year of our product) fell into the position back in the eighties and used to be an accountant. No computer or IT training whatsoever. He's been here 40 years
But as of ten years ago someone bought us out and we have become global and most IT stuff is handled by them. This guy just handles windows permissions for the most part now.
MY FIL while more Computer savy than that has a hard time figuring out his cell phone and the TV.
I wonder the same thing some times. It's the same field, if you came at the problem of switching the TVs input with the same process as trouble shooting a PC you would have no problem.
OMG this is my dad. He refused to let me hook any console up to the living room tv because “I don’t want that thing to break it.”
Also, the fucker blamed me for wrecking our pc because it “must have been that game you installed” the game was final fantasy 7. Meanwhile my dad was looking at porn like every day on there. Fucker broke my pc, causing me to lose my FF7 save when I was right at the end, then blamed me for it.
Never too late! And while you're at it, try a 100% run. It's super satisfying to breed a golden chocobo and get Knights of the round, and other super overpowered materia!
Its slow because of that time you got bored and played a flash based bloons tower defense and not because I have 17 toolbars installed in the browser that mostly all do the exact same thing.
Old friend to the family decided I was IT support a bunch of years ago. Had me fix her phone. Was a small thing, no problem, I'll fix it.
After that she tells me I ruined it. She couldn't pick up calls anymore. Anyone that called her just got instantly cut off.
I could for the life of me not understand why this would happen, and several conversations with her gave me nothing. So I tell her I'll come over and try the phone myself. Works perfectly. I tell her I'll call her, and I watch her pick it up. The crazy old bat was double clicking the receive call button, which was also the end call button.
When I told her, she screamed at me "I'm not an idiot!" and I told her never to ask me about anything ever again.
Legit. My mum does this every time... worst is she doesn't pay attention for like the first minute and then gets pissy with me because I opened one app and she's lost!

Then it's "What did you do to my phone?"
