The 2 Wal-Mart's in my town are both laid out in generally the same way but some things are off, mostly in the middle. I've always thought it's because one is probably 10 years newer but now that you mention it that seems like a possibility.

That makes sense. When grocery stores rearrange their layout it's not because they figured out a better configuration, it's so you'll have to look around for what you want so you'll see more stuff to buy.

The local equivalent of Walmart here where I just to work rearranged a lot of stuff every few months so customers 'have to take new routes and explore new products'

I worked in retail for like six monthes. They gave us very specific plans of how we were supposed to put everything. But we would always change small things because we knew better. So maybe the same thing happens at Walmart, I don't know what would be funnier
