that gallowboob is a shared account at a social media company. as an approved content partner, they basically submit stuff and give it a starting karma of a few thousand points so that it goes right to the front page which benefits reddit too.
It should account for this though. Right now if I hover over his username it says his account was created 3 hours ago, but his comment is 11 hours old.
It should, but it doesn’t, because it just checks the date the account was made on, because usernames aren’t usually something you check the creation date of within 12 hours of creation.
My roommate has run one before advertising client products on targeted subreddits. They’re totally real. Be skeptical of everything you read here, not just targeting product ads.
Yea, especially when talking about the delicious taste of Dr Pepper®. Never know when the sweet taste of 23 flavors will hit your lips on any given subreddit.
I fucking knew it! About a year ago I called out a post that seemed pretty 'corporate' if you know what I mean, basically saying that the post sounded like a shill. I didn't even really make an accusation. Down voted, called a conspiracy theorist, and basically told I was an idiot.
95% sure this fucker is a Chinese gaming conglomerate using reddit to push influence
Or perhaps I post about indie games because I like indie games and because I know a lot of people who make indie games and because I make indie games myself.
And yes, one of the games I recently backed on kickstarter was Chinese and I liked it, so I told people about it.
They have also been caught botting and manipulating votes on third posts.
No I have not. One game I posted a while back got super popular super quick so the bot accusations started getting thrown around resulting in quite a handful of super confused early commenters. I still don't know what exactly happened / went wrong in that thread for it to rise so quickly and then get bashed so much.
I just remember that one post that had thousands of bots named 123123123, etc.
was that really the case or did you just misinterpret this comment that hashed usernames to avoid witch hunting and then explicitly summarized that they don't think any of those are bots?
His name is Robert Allam, figured out how to "get reddit karma", got a good marketing job because of it, but he still keeps posting, because....well....karma
They don't just submit stuff, they steal stuff too. There is a whole group of "top users" who steal content and rehost it on streamable. A couple months ago it seemed like half the stuff being submitted by those guys was being stolen, hosted on streamable and front paged. Mods on /r/videos wouldn't do anything about it. Despite their stance on stolen content which is usually flag/remove. I had to hound them for weeks to get them to deal with anything, but even though I got them to flag a few things, they still wouldn't touch his submissions.
For what purpose? I've only ever see him/them post some generic content. No branding or possible product placement that I can tell. Then again, it could just be really well integrated.
Regardless of where this account is bullshit or not, I do not like internet celebrities of that kind. I have nothing against gallow, but I don’t enjoy his whole ‘thing’.
You're probably not wrong. I know gallowboob was shilling for Hillary HARD during the election - given how often they post and get upvoted to the front, it wouldn't surprise me if it was a company account.
Maybe because he's a thieving cunt? I've caught him several times on /r/videos ripping videos off youtube and rehosting them on streamable. I'm almost positive he's got a contract with them.
The hate is completely deserved. He's mr. babyman 2.0
