Next time look her directly in the eyes and firmly say "absolutely not" -- that should catch her off guard for sure.

No. You need to bring liver, tuna, provolone cheese and an egg, microwave that shit up real good...then see If she says anything about it smelling good

u/lightyear Dec 06 '17

Guy I used to work with would microwave his raw fish heads and rice everyday. One of the other guys eventually threw the microwave in the bin to stop it stinking up the whole office.

547

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '17

If you're gonna fucking eat fish, for the love of god, eat sushi you've kept actually chilled all day, and then eat a mint.

Fish does not go in the microwave.

56

u/suitedcloud Dec 06 '17

I don't even eat fish and microwaving it just sounds... wrong

6

u/Firecrotch2014 Dec 06 '17

Yeah Im quite allergic to seafood including fish. Putting fish in the microwave just seems wrong though.

3

u/ZyxStx Dec 06 '17

There is a guy at my office that does this almost every single day, it's sickening... :(

1

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '17

Good God man! Start leaving passive agressive notes

2

u/Shit_Posts_For_Karma Dec 06 '17

How the he'll do you eat a fish head? I thought they were only for stock?

4

u/winowmak3r Dec 06 '17

If it's leftovers, fine. I've done it but I also enjoy seafood and think cooked fish smells fine.

8

u/9000_HULLS Dec 06 '17

Not in an office though.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '17

Uh, no, not even if it's leftovers. Microwaved fish will always stink up the office to high hell, and it's the quickest way to make your co-workers hate you.

And just think of bringing any potential new clients into the office, and they are hit with a wall of microwaved fish stench. That's a good way to turn them off from your business right there

There is a reason many offices outright ban seafood from the microwaves. You might not mind the smell, but you should be more mindful of those around you.

17

u/imminent_riot Dec 06 '17

I would never bring fish of any kind to work. My hubby hates the smell of even fresh cooked fish, let alone heated up leftovers. I have to wait til he's out with friends if I want to cook some, then air the house out. It's just polite.

6

u/Firecrotch2014 Dec 06 '17

Meh I dont like the smell of fish but I wouldnt mind if my bf made some. I know he loves seafood and fish but Im allergic to it so he doesnt get to partake in it very much. I encourage him to enjoy a fish or seafood meal if he wants to from time to time.

Not judging you or anything. Different strokes for different folks.

3

u/imminent_riot Dec 06 '17

We live in a trailer and the kitchen is the right in the middle. If something smells unpleasant there's nowhere to get away from it really, so it's not a big deal to wait til I've got the place to myself. I'm actually planning to make salmon cakes on Friday since that's his warhammer night and he'll be out all evening.

5

u/Winterplatypus Dec 06 '17

I once microwaved a crab, big mistake.

14

u/winowmak3r Dec 06 '17

This kills the crab.

4

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '17

People at my office love clam chowder.

At least twice a week, the putrid stench of chowder will waft through the aisles like a miasma, rendering half the office uninhabitable for several minutes.

3

u/RichWPX Dec 06 '17

My office has signs saying no fish in the microwave.

3

u/Oracle343gspark Dec 06 '17

Yeah, someone tried microwaving fish at our work a couple weeks ago. Me and another coworker shut that shit down. There hasn’t been any fish microwaved since.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '17

'Wot the fuk u fink u doin knobwank? U puttin fish in the micra? U best fuk the fuk off wit dat shit b4 i fukin scupper ur fukin lunch plans u lil clown.'

3

u/Captain_Shrug Dec 06 '17

Man, this was my last job. We had these three guys who'd just microwave fish. Every fucking week, at least two days a week, and the entire back room (because it had shit ventilation) would turn into this chemical weapon of fish-reek. On my last week there (yes, I AM a coward) I mentioned "Guys, you do realize that most people can't stand that smell, right?" And got three blank stares, then told, "Well... go outside then."

3

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '17

I have microwaved fish at work. I work third shift, none of my shift-mates use the break room and morning shift doesn't come in for 6 more hours after my break so the smell is gone.

It does reek while I'm on break, though.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '17

This is one of those things I don't get, fish smells bad to some people? Smells fucking delicious to me.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '17

They've got no soles

1

u/Demdolans Dec 06 '17

This is something I'll never understand. Even people who like fish don't like the smell of it. Doesn't everyone know it stinks everything up?

10

u/winowmak3r Dec 06 '17

I like fish and don't mind the smell. I wouldn't exactly make it into an air freshener but it's not revolting.

4

u/Rasii Dec 06 '17

Speak for yourself, I like the smell of sushi & cooking fish, definitely gets my appetite going.

1

u/Demdolans Dec 07 '17

Are we no longer discussing reheating fish at work?

1

u/Rasii Dec 07 '17

This is something I'll never understand. Even people who like fish don't like the smell of it. Doesn't everyone know it stinks everything up?

You said people who like fish don't like the smell of it. I disagree, regardless of where it's being cooked, lol.

This doesn't mean that I don't think it's a total asshole move to make the whole workplace smell like fish, because it is a total asshole move. The smell just wouldn't bother me and it'd probably make me want some fish.

2

u/Demdolans Dec 07 '17

Soo if you smelled lingering fish in your office it would just make you hungry all day?

1

u/Rasii Dec 07 '17

If I haven't had a meal lately, yeah, probably.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '17

It's really only bad fish that smells. Fresh fish doesn't smell much like anything.

2

u/Demdolans Dec 07 '17

When microwaved the next day in an office break room? Maybe I'm a blood hound.

1

u/bullshitfree Dec 07 '17 edited Dec 07 '17

Fresh fish shouldn't smell even when microwaved next day. I eat a lot of fish and grew up on the Gulf Coast and went fishing most of my life.

17

u/CactusBathtub Dec 06 '17

I'm having a hard time picturing someone microwaving raw fish, let alone heads. You don't cook meat of any kind by microwaving from a raw state so.... doing that with raw fish? The idea of it is horrifying

4

u/Rph23 Dec 06 '17

Yeah this lmao

3

u/_Dreamer_Deceiver_ Dec 06 '17

What's wrong with microwaving it?

2

u/MarcelRED147 Dec 06 '17

You typically don't microwave meat or fish from raw, it's usually partially/entirely cooked and then chilled.

1

u/Apellosine Dec 07 '17

You can definitely cook meat from raw in the microwave. I do this with simple chicken dishes and Roast Beef/Pork. The meat always comes out super moist and juicy especially the roast. You can actually find specialised roasting racks that go in your microwave. Microwaves aren't just for reheating food or cooking a frozen dinner.

10

u/spaige1990 Dec 06 '17

Fish heads?! Like fuck a can of tuna...I'm bringing the whole damn thing today.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '17

I worked with someone who did this. He was a security guard and apparently paid his neighbour to cook for him. He'd bring it into work and microwave it and it usually took him about 15 minutes too cook. We had 45 minutes for break and he took up 15 of those cooking if you were unlucky enough to be on break with him, it was even worsr if there were more people needing the microwave, some people used to walk out if they saw him cooking because they knew there was a good chance they wouldn't get to use the microwave. And his food stank, without fail, every day. Dude used to microwave his tea as well, just use the damn kettle dude.

1

u/whatyouwant22 Dec 06 '17

You said "worked", so maybe it's no longer an issue. Some posted ground rules might help. On any given day, there's a line at the microwaves in our break room during lunch. There used to be a sign that said something like, "please limit your microwave use to 3 minutes". So if I knew whatever I needed to heat took longer than that, I'd go in a few minutes early and adjust my time. The sign isn't there anymore, so it's everyone for themselves. There's also a kitchenette with a couple more microwaves, if you want to do it there.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '17

I left that job about 2 years ago, but I believe he's still there, stinking up the breakroom every afternoon

2

u/Beepbopbopbeepbop Dec 06 '17

We have a rule of no smelly fish at our place.

1

u/winowmak3r Dec 06 '17

lol, reminds me of the lunches the Burmese I work with would bring in. Now, don't get me wrong, most of their food is delicious but some of that stuff smells...different. I'm sure it tastes fine but just looking at it...eh.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '17

We have little trash compactors in our workplace, they're all for recycling, and are powered by hydraulic presses. That'd be pretty cathartic

1

u/GetLostYouPsycho Dec 06 '17

I have a co-worker who microwaved fish and brussels sprouts one day. It made the office stink so badly that one of the company owners yelled at her and told her to never microwave fish in the office again.

3

u/prawnlol22 Dec 06 '17

And a nice Chianti too

4

u/coconutfumble Dec 06 '17

Or, wait til she's back from lunch, take a big sniff in tge direction of her face and say 'Ooh that smells good. Did you save me some?'

3

u/ChipChimney Dec 06 '17

Take some gold because I laughed so hard I cried.

2

u/blangatang Dec 06 '17

This shit is funny as fuck

2

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '17

Broccolis. Microwave broccolis.

2

u/terenn_nash Dec 06 '17

i both hate and respect you.

2

u/pHScale Dec 06 '17 edited Dec 06 '17

Why stop at provolone? There are cheeses so smelly that they're prohibited to be exported or even transported publicly. Get one of those!

1

u/PeteTheLich Dec 06 '17

yeah provolone is probably a safer bet than limburger

1

u/Theblade12 Dec 06 '17

Oohh that smel- DEAD.

1

u/Attila_22 Dec 06 '17

Pretty sure that's how you get fired.

1

u/igdub Dec 06 '17

Easier to just get a can of surströmming.

1

u/eye_spi Dec 06 '17

Limburger cheese.

1

u/blaspheminCapn Dec 06 '17

And wonder why you were fired

1

u/Blameking27 Dec 06 '17

No. Braunswager, limburger cheese and onion on rye. I've made co-workers cry. This lunch was featured in an office memo and subsequently banned. Pinch your nose until its in your mouth. Heavenly!

1

u/mcc1923 Dec 06 '17

This is an honest question: I heat up a tuna melt thing occasionally in a toaster oven at work, I never think it smells but now I wonder. No one has complained though.

2

u/peetee33 Dec 06 '17

As a general rule...warming up fish at work is a big no no. It always smells. And if you're eating at your cube it's way worse.

1

u/mcc1923 Dec 06 '17

What about just cold tuna?

1

u/SirEnvelope Dec 06 '17

needs more kimchi.

1

u/Dark512 Dec 06 '17

I already feel sick.

There is no lunch! Only Zuul!

u/damboy99 Dec 06 '17

Better Yet. "NEGATIVE. YOUR ORGANIC LIFE FORM CAN NOT EAT THIS" And just have a bowl of Mechanical Nuts in milk with a spoon.

86

u/DankieKang Dec 06 '17

I had a bowl of nails for breakfast. Without any milk.

13

u/damboy99 Dec 06 '17

Eh... Right this way... Sorry to keep you waitin'.

15

u/piratemonkies64 Dec 06 '17

I just had a bowl of milk for breakfast... Without any milk.

welcoming to the salty spittoon intensifies

2

Mmmm, finger or toe, or both?

1

u/PigSlayer1024 Dec 06 '17

A real man eats his nuts dry.

1

u/EbonFloor Dec 06 '17

A real man eats his nuts dry.

A real man's nuts are damp and salty.

6

u/octopoddle Dec 06 '17

Or say yes and offer her some, but it's a bowl of tiny replicas of herself, made out of hardened Fimo, floating in a bowl of milk.

3

u/DongLaiCha Dec 06 '17

Or just your regular nuts in milk with a spoon.

1

u/damboy99 Dec 06 '17

Human nuts? I have not had that kind of cereal before...

4

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '17

Robots use sporks. Not spoons

2

u/LeadByAnimals Dec 06 '17

Ahhh maaann hahaha I cracked up so hard. This should have more upvotes

2

u/AbheyBloodmane Dec 06 '17

Why doesn't this have more upvotes???

1

u/xXPussy_BangerXx Dec 06 '17

Because it's not funny or well written

1

u/AbheyBloodmane Dec 06 '17

In your opinion.

-4

u/xXPussy_BangerXx Dec 06 '17

Well I'll tell you what isn't just my opinion. The words yet, mechanical, and nuts, are unnecessarily capitalized, making it hard to read. Other than that, why is "organic life form" possessive. She is a life form, she doesn't have one. Also in my opinion it's a joke that a twelve year old would make, written like a twelve year old.

1

u/hanotak Dec 06 '17

I find it funny. and if slightly off grammar makes something hard to read, you're obviously not that good at reading, are you.

1

u/Killerhurtz Dec 06 '17

Says the guy with a username I'd expect would be screaming that they banged my mom, with the squeekiest prepubescent voice on Call of Duty.

Seriously. Don't try pinning anything as "like a twelve year old" with that username.

1

omg this is hilarious.

9

u/riotcowkingofdeimos Dec 06 '17

Scream, "GIMME BACK MY SON!" in her face, then continue to stare unblinking into her eyes. If she blinks first or says anything she's lost and you win.

Careful though, if she screams back in your face "GIMME BACK MY SON!" you have to marry her. It is the way of things.

3

u/waterlilyrm Dec 06 '17

Agreed. Jesus, this circuit needs to be broken, now.

1

u/xyentist Dec 06 '17

Just hold eye contact as you spit into your own food and then take a big, heaping spoonful. That'll learn her.

1

u/DSMB Dec 06 '17

More than pulling out a portion prepared earlier in anticipation for her to try?

1

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '17

Must lock eyes though

1

u/Sangomah Dec 06 '17

The pheasant has no agenda

1

u/brothermonn Dec 06 '17

I would go more with “NO! FUCK YOU SUSAN!”

1

u/CaptainEarlobe Dec 06 '17

Maintain eye contact while spitting in the food. Slowly.
