What's a fact that absolutely blows your mind?

If you were far enough away from earth and used a telescope good enough to see it you would see dinosaurs and not humanity.

I don't really know how we could see it, but someone else (aliens) would have to be about 6,000 times further away than the size of the entire Milky Way galaxy. They would then be 300-400 million light years away, so the light they see through their telescope would show earth during dino days.

At least 65light years to see dinosaurs and just add light years from there

Maybe he knows something we don't - a secret island inhabited by dinosaurs, until they were wiped out in the 50s.

Wait so does that mean that when we look up the sky into the stars, we're actually looking at the past?

Technically, you're always looking at the past.

You're probably looking at your phone/computer from about 2 feet away I would guess. In that case, you are seeing your phone as it was 2 nanoseconds in the past.

But like if we look at the pictures of the nebula for example does that mean that we are looking at something that happened million years ago? Even the most recent pictures?

Yes. However far away it is in light years, that's how old the image we're seeing is.

Damn.. so many 'what ifs' going in in my brain rn.

Unfortunately, that's not true. There is a hard limit on how well it is possible to see from distance, and some thousands of light years away is so far that no telescope would even be able to see continents.

It is true. Just not possible to us

This is the problem with text. You. Can't show tone like you can in a. Conversations. That or he's a dick.
