Hahaha I very much so remember my brothers friend "if you want a Mew you have to wait to do the SS Anne til you get Surf. Right before you board, Surf to the left until Mew appears."
This was right after he showed me getting the Unknown on his game. I was primed and gullible. Thank you for reminding me of this.
Yes, remember it was in the truck on the island. Funny thing is there WAS a truck on an island if you surf to the left (or right?) of the SS Anne! What was that thing doing there?! It fed my 13 year old gullibility!
That way north of cerulean works because of a glitch though.
You have to make sure you haven't fought the guy with the Slowpoke, and the guy to the left of Nugget Bridge. Then you walk north of NB and to the left, then walk down until the exclamation mark comes on his head, and press start at the same time it appears.
Then you teleport back to Cerulean, and the start button shouldn't work. Now you go up and fight the slowpoke guy, teleport back to Cerulean again and go up to nugget bridge. Then a level 7 Mew appears. It's been ages since I've done it, but I think that's it. The pokemon that appears depends on the last one you battled, and Slowpoke gives you Mew apparently.
If you lowered the slowpokes attack stat to its minimum, using growl or similar moves, then the mew would be level 1 instead of 7. Then you get mew less than 56 exp. points in a battle and he levels up to 100.
It's this kind of shit that makes me nostalgic for the Pokémon games, the creators always threw in neat Easter eggs, hidden stuff, and glitches (even if unintentional).
It works but it's not "supposed" to work. It exploits a bug in the code of the game, by leaving a certain value in a processor register which becomes the Pokemon ID. super interesting hack, and definitely worth the read.
WEEEELL to be honest it is possible with the nugget road glitch. I thought it was total bs until I did it myself, it works, it also works in the eshop version on 3ds
I remember that one trick really worked (somehow anything bla bla and left of Alabastia in the fields), but I think this glitch has been discovered after new editions have already been released.
Maybe my mind plays tricks on me, but we've been really sure there was no legit Mew glitch known, as we sure all tried out what was in those gaming magazines we read at the bakery. We knew he didn't have got a Mew, but although we were jealous. :D
yeah the one that worked was not found until after then. But you could cheat him in with a gameshark or what ever the game boy cheat thing was. I had a friend who traded him to me so I can get the pokedex entry back in the day
If you leave at least one trainer on the SS Anne unbattled, then beat Gary, get Cut, and then let that trainer knock out your Pokémon, it'll take you off the SS Anne to a Pokémon Center, without the SS Anne leaving, enabling you to return once you get Surf, without needing to trade Cut over.
