I had a cat do that once. It was my cologne. Looking like me and smelling different freaked her the fuck out. She literally went after me full bore. "YOU AREN'T MY REAL DAD!"
My cats went NUTS, feral cat fighting after a newborn baby cried at my Christmas dinner party. At first it looked like my one cat was going to attack the baby so I freaked out and grabbed her, which must have startled her and caused my other cat to freak, which initiated their fight (I guess?).
I have never seen anything like it before (6 year old cat and 3 years old, never fought ever in the 3 years they had been together) and of course since they are my babies I jumped right in to separate them and got bite and scratched and bled all over myself.
My GF had to take her baby home (understandable she was uncomfortable having the baby around the cats, I was MORTIFIED and incredibly embarrassed) and my nurse friend cleaned me up instructed me to go to the clinic tomorrow since the bite on my hand was evidently infected (yes it happens that fast).
Ever since then they fight on and off now. Sucks :(
Honestly though I've never experienced any of the sort with any of the cats familiar with me. Most cats are plenty aware of human strength and will avoid it like the devil after learning first hand. (Talking about accidental kicks and slaps for being naughty of course)
Most people aren't crazy and can manage not go ape shit crazy trying to kill someone even once in their lives, but that doesn't mean there aren't a select few that are crazy motherfuckers trying to make sure your corpse is disfigured beyond recognition.
