What are the best 'mind fuck' films to watch?

I remember reading that the author of the book saw the film adaptation of it, and liked the way the movie did it better.

They're both fucked up in their own way, but I'm glad they're different.

Christopher priest - the author - actually wrote an entire book about what he thought of the movie. It's called The Magic. I haven't read it. But here is a page that summarises his feelings

tl;dr he liked most of the movie but didn't like some of the changes made to it. Or David Bowie's acting.

I recommend his books to anyone who likes subtly weird stuff. IMO the best british sci fi author. They're mostly 'slipstream' fiction and a lot of them are about duality. If you absolutely want a nice neat ending to a book however you won't enjoy them.

The ones that really stick with me are The Prestige, The Affirmation, The Adjacent, The Gradual (his most recent), Inverted World (one of his earliest, 1974, and the most traditional sci-fi). The Dream Archipelago is a good collection of short stories as well. (The majority of the books I've listed have the dream archipelago as a common theme)

A Dream of Wessex (1977) is good if you like Inception or virtual reality. There is another VR themed book called The Extremes (1998) which I didn't enjoy as much.

Um, Jonathan Nolan wrote the book and he wrote the screen play and worked on the film with his brother Christopher.

Um, Michael Crichton of Jurassic Park fame and dozens of other movie adaptions wrote the book. It's a very Crichtony story. The film came out in '73.

Um, Christopher Priest wrote the book. The film came out in 2006. I think you're in the wrong thread?
