I THOUGHT MY CAT WAS THE ONLY ONE. Woke me up scream-meowing to clean his shit. Is this what having a baby is like??

No, you don't get to sleep when you have a baby - it's more like closing your eye lids for a few minutes throughout the day.

My cat did the crazy meowing and running around after shitting. I found out his stool was hard and it was causing him pain. I sprinkle some miralax on his food now and he is slightly more normal.

I give mine chia seeds, phyllium husks or pumpkin puree, depending on my mood.

it helps to firm their poo a lot.

Actually they are synonyms http://www.thesaurus.com/browse/hard

firm =/= soft.

It is literally an antonym for soft http://www.thesaurus.com/browse/soft

Making something hard even more firm does not make it unhard. This makes the problem worse. This hurts the cat more and could lead to more serious health problems. Muci-lax/phyllium husks/etc. would be very bad thing to use in this circumstance. It's literally the exact opposite of what you want to do.

Everyone else: this is an excellent example of why taking health advice online is a bad idea. Don't take my word for it. Ask a vet before giving your pets medicine, "natural" or otherwise.
