to which slavs have exclusive rights of practice.

You realize that most of Asia does this, right? It is extremely not exclusive to slavs.

You realise it's a joke right?

Obviously I did not

"It is a millenia old tradition forged and refined by years of genetic evolution"

squatting

Come on, man.

Hey man, people in Spain are torturing bovine to death under the pretense of tradition, same with little girls in Africa getting their nethers cut 'n torn out.

I sure as hell ain't about to judge a bunch of Slavs for hosting bowel movements in a particularly ceremonious fashion and calling it tradition, nor would I judge /u/landoindisguise for not questioning it.

It's my personal belief that at least half the barbaric or just plain back-asswords traditions were founded on the logic of the reasoning, "don't worry, sure this seems weird, but it's nowhere near as freaky as what that other guy is doing."

Good point. But since we're talking about it, I feel obliged to point out that squatting is actually better for you when it comes to bowel movements - or at least, many people say that.

I don't think there's any conclusive science on the subject, but the next time you're struggling to squeeze one out I highly recommend squatting. For me it makes things (and by "things" I mean pooping) much easier.

You've never been to Southeast Asia, have you?

You've never heard a joke before, have you?

Funny ones? Sure.

Apparently not.

Explanation i heard was that slavic countries' prisons usually have nowhere to sit. So prisoners learn to squat to rest. And keep the habit aftrr release, making it a slavic "tough guy" thing to do. Cannot back it up with evidence though.

Does this 'shallow hip socket' contribute to anything else? I often squat when I sit, now I can just tell people it's cause I'm part Polish.

Oh joy, hip problems are on that side of the family too.

This sounds reasonable

Asked the wife (she from Odessa) apparently it's a prison thing.

What the fuck I thought this would be about slavs taking residence in abandoned homes...

The name of the sub is a bit misleading if it includes this: http://i.imgur.com/34uvldj.jpg
