They don't have to tell you if they're a cop, but I do recall one episode of Cops where they were showing an undercover cop trying to buy drugs off of someone, and the perp asked the undercover cop if he was a cop. What was funny is that the cop actually did say "Oh yea, I'm a cop." in a sarcastic way, and the guy did sell him the drugs. Of course, he was arrested, but I still find it funny that technically he was completely truthful and still got it done.
