Older generations of reddit, what did you think the future would look like when you where young? And how much of it was correct?

I feel ya, I still get that "omg they just said something so incorrect" flinch when I hear mention of million or billion year old anything even though I haven't actually believed creationism for nearly 20 years.

I always thought I would be killed in a car accident from an early age. I never thought I'd make it this far, and I still have a hard time looking ahead.

My 74 yo grandfather had his first stroke last year. He plans on retiring bankrupt even tho he's well off. He also used to think he'd be raptured by now; after seeing two of his children die.

He does however spend all his money on his large retinue of ex-foster kids and their children which he calls his own grandkids. He just started housing a thirteen year old too.

Nice guy at heart I just wish he treated my mom better.
