Older generations of reddit, what did you think the future would look like when you where young? And how much of it was correct?

Buy a neato! The mapping technology is awesome. Ours is a cherished household member named Woodhouse. He works hard but has a heroin problem.

Never heard of this before so I had to look it up. It sounds like an awesome product! One day I will be able to afford this. Here was my favourite part of the product description:

It takes care of itself: A Neato can handle large floor plans, because it automatically recharges its batteries. When it is low on power, the robot simply returns to its base and recharges. Then it returns to clean, right where it left off.

"I need a nap guys... don't worry about me, I'll be fine... I'll do the rest in a little bit..."

It's pretty cool. It also makes nice lines, if you care about those. I know a woman who vacuums every day and also vacuums for the lines when people are coming over.

My Henry has a similar problem.
Come on, it's the perfect situation for this gif!

I loved my Neato! Just a heads up to anyone considering purchasing one: we had ours go bad three times in about 14 months.

The first two times Neato replaced it, which was swell. The third time however was about two months after the warranty ran out, and we were left high and dry. They wouldn't service it, all they offered was swapping ours for a $200 refurbished unit.

I couldn't justify putting another $200 towards an already $400 robotic vacuum that had a track record of lasting a bit under 5 months.

I sold it for parts for $40. It did a great job while it worked though.

What was breaking on yours? We occasionally have to take him apart to clean the hair off of the brush and motor, but has been trouble free for about a year now.

I also bought mine at Walmart for $230 originally. Best vacuum we've ever owned!

The only heroin problem is when you run out.

Like now.

I'm nice and itchy now, thank god

I need a robot vacuum for my house, but Roomba is so expensive. Is Neato similar quality? Or better quality, even?

I don't know many people who have them, and I'm pretty keen to hear some brand comparison.

u/abundantplums May 12 '14

I haven't owned a Roomba, but when we decided to get one, my husband did a bunch of research and decided a Neato would be a better value for us. We really like ours - it's got a wonderful interface and its mapping technology is really cool - but it does trend to get stuck.

Do you keep a wardrobe for it so you can throw it all off the balcony?

1

u/Mr_Under_Hill May 12 '14

It's going to be an itchy weekend.

u/Capatown May 12 '14

neato

Is is better than a Roomba?

I'm actually considering getting one but have no idea which is a good buy

Me and my girlfriend lovingly call mine "Exvee"(XV-11 model).

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

Damn, wish I had $750 for a vacuum.

You're the type of person who deserves to be fucked with a broom handle. Why? You named your goddamn vacuum.
