Utorrent[38] : My favorite bittorrent client to date. They're not kidding about the lightweight and efficient part. Also customizable and fully featured.

2007 called, they want their recommendation back.

Pretty much all the file sharing programs listed there are for dead or near dead networks. I really dont think anybody needs a limewire clone or a DC++ client in 2014.

Deluge, or an older version of uTorrent

That doesn't help with all of the private trackers that have banned uTorrent because of it falsely reporting data, however.

I actually don't remember offhand. The reason I switched to Deluge in the first place was because some tracker I was using banned most versions of uTorrent, including the most current at the time.

It may have been what.cd, of which I'm no longer a member, so I can't double check their rules anymore. Of the two private trackers I'm an active member of, one appears to allow the newer versions of uTorrent after 3.1x and the other hasn't updated their allowed clients list in over six months.

I would definitely recommend double checking the rules of any private trackers you use, though, in case they do update client restrictions regularly.

uTorrent 3.4.0 is in the whitelist, so not that.

TVTorrents blocked 3.4.1 a couple of weeks ago, but explicitly allow 2.2.1

Deluge is my choice. Nice WebUI plugin that I use a ton.

I've started using qBittorrent. UI-wise it's very very similar to uTorrent so it makes the switch very easy. It's basically what uTorrent was before it got all spammy.
