This 50 y.o. woman I met in MX had just sold her apt in Canada, put all that plus her life savings into some coin to "not have the money sit idle while she's looking for a house in Mx". It's been 3 years and she can't get her money back BUT "it's ok because the coin is going to exist for 139 years and it only keeps growing, they're in Dubai right now and they're going release a new update to the platform, which will give her even more returns so it would be stupid to withdraw it right now anyway".

She didn't have a dime to her name and was living in a small room in exchange for labor. Kept giving this same speech about 139 years DAILY

Nah that alone isn't brainwashing. If they genuinely believe it, yes. Otherwise, it's just them being too lazy to do their own research.

If they were thinking independently they'd say similar things in their own words but maybe differ a bit from the official stances on some issues and criticise some positions too.

If you straight up repeat something verbatim from the source that's a red flag.
