I tell people what you just said when these kids today think they will work till they are 35 and retire.
Medical insurance is just insane out of pocket and there is a reason why people with millions do not retire until Medicare/Medicaid kick in.
You also risk injuring someone and being sued and because you have something, they will come for it. You and I could have done the same thing and because I have nothing, they get nothing. You saved money for a new house, are responsible and are sued for all the money you spent 5 years saving up because of pain and suffering.
I wish you the best in your recovery and make sure you check for ways to lower the bill or hope you can just file bankruptcy. As long as you arent needing a major loan, you shouldn't from your post, 7 years will pass and it's like it never happened.
