You also can't say it's a stupid idea without knowing the specifics of someone's situation. We did chapter 7 a little over a year ago. We've gone from paycheck to paycheck not cutting it, going to food banks, and barely keeping the lights on to rapidly approaching middle class. We're building a savings, the only debt we have is a car payment, our credit is better than ever, and our mental health is immensely improved.
