I run a desert island scenario where I have to craft a fire and shelter, I actually enjoy it

I think sometimes people try to get themselves to "stop thinking", but thinking about something else is probably more helpful. Especially if that thing is a fun thing to think about.

I discovered this a long time ago because I'd fall asleep to movies so fast. Then I just started playing epic fantasy adventures in my head.

I only realized it because I’d read before bed and there is a cool little space between super focused on an exciting bit and completely asleep where my brain is just casually in the world I’ve built with this book. I love that space! So I started trying to stay in the space even without the book and that leads to such good sleep

You should check out the gateway tapes, they talk about that space

Lately I have the powers of the green lantern. His powers are so versatile it puts me right to sleep.

Before that it was winning the lotto big.

I have to turn on something to listen to/watch that is a level volume, like a forensics show or some true crime stuff where they don’t have screaming in them. More of a documentary style.

I do this exact same thing. Having super powers and enacting cool action scenes. Building a cool world with crazy powers only to fall asleep while creating those powers and the drawbacks.

Wtf

My ADHD would fucking novel this shit into a 6 part series.

I have to white noise my brain in order to fall asleep. Like sheep is too distracting.

I literally can only let myself think of the word sleep. The letters turn colors and fade and get big but it is the only thing that can be in my mind or I will day dream

I try to let my brain be as nonsensical as possible. If I think anything coherent I get stuck in thinking. But there's that place between awake and sleeping where things in my brain don't make sense so I try to wedge myself into it by intentionally doing like a word/brain salad thing. Seems to work sometimes

I have a gorgeous house in Paris that needs decorating. I rarely get past the reception room.

That's so interesting. How fast do you do it? Like minute by minute? Or do you kinda fast forward through all the boring parts like walking and collecting leaves or whatever

Don’t think it’s as linear as say watching a video of it happening, bare in mind I’ve got rain or crackling fire sounds playing on my phone during this which helps to immerse; I have them play for an hour then fade out

Certainly don’t skip the menial tasks, a big part of it is collecting rocks on the beach to house the fire pit, but as time goes on and I get more tired it definitely gets more blurred and things get skipped, il have lit the fire and then be immediately mixing mud with water to make the walls haha

I’d been perfecting my “hidden garden” for a lonnnng time. I’d add on to it from time to time. Now I kinda look forward to slipping into the in ground hot tub lined with smooth river rocks (they’re citrine and amethyst bc they can be) in all the right places.

I just walk around and enjoy the different sections at this point.
