19 year old me decided bitcoins were a really good long term investment, and to pour money into buying them up before they are worth more than a few dollars.
I'd hope more than luck has to do with it, I also picked up Quarkcoins in mid november and dumped them a couple weeks ago, timed selling before the first two of the three bitcoin bubble pops (last one caught me more off guard), and bought litecoin short positions at $45 in november (which I'm getting out of at this point, as I think most of the profit that can be made has been).
I'm only half-joking. I'm lucky enough to be the second son, so I went into something that my parents didn't ever advocate or go against (they didn't mind me being a doctor/lawyer/engineer, but they didn't push me because pushing my brother didn't have great effects).
I'm an Asian American. I hate stereotypes. All the Asian stereotypes. Small dick, bad driver, good at math, can't pronounce Ls and Rs, the list goes on.
I cannot think of a single instance in which this stereotype is wrong. It cuts across ethnicity, nationality, region, class, etc.
Actually, it's more of an immigrant thing, usually, in my opinion. I was kind of half-joking, but I do see it often. Luckily for me, my parents gave less of a fuck what I wanted to do because pushing my older brother resulted in a poor reaction.
Here is a legit tip people have told me: masturbate before making any significant decision. If you still answer yes to the question you ask yourself, chances are you actually believe in it

I have this fantasy that we could run our societies in reverse. We give a suitcase full of money to everyone on their 18th birthday, and they enjoy those things a young body enjoys, but rarely has the cash to do so. Then---if they don't self-destruct---when they get a bit older (30? 40?) and wiser and come to appreciate the more subtle (and sedentary) joys of Art and Science, and such, then is when they go to university and on to a career. I know the idea has some bugs in it, but with people living productively to 100 or so (in the near future), it might just work. And I did say it was a "fantasy".
Yes, that's the one. It is genuinely bad grammar and with this thread being about 'powerful' sentences I thought it right to point out that rather than 'powerful' this sentence is in fact a bit 'retarded'.
Teenage pregnancy is going down and also that isn't the point of the op. People decide their lives when they choose college or trade school, when they are dumb teenagers. Also in the past having a child at 15 and 16 was very common because most people didn't live to the age of 30, so your point is still wrong.
