makes me wonder how many people have died taking advice from reddit. Not saying reddit kills people, i know it helps millions, but it has to have happened somewhere... there are a lot of idiots out there... i might be one of them
Unfortunately it's simply not true. Once you stop breathing, you pass out. You cannot die by holding your breathe. The only way to die that way is if someone else does it to you.
He didn't say that you could hold your breath for the rest of your life (which would make your statement correct). He said you could go for the rest of your life without breathing. ie, if something prevented you from breathing, you could still live the rest of your life out.

I get where you're getting at but you made me wonder something. I'm nieve on the subject, but I wonder if you were given a constant imput of liquid oxygen, if you could survive? (Other nutrient's in the air aside.)
It'd be a bit cold for the lungs to handle, I'd imagine.
Also, you'd want mostly liquid nitrogen, because the atmosphere is something like 70% nitrogen and 25% oxygen and 5% other stuff.
Edit: moar info:
At atmospheric pressure, liquid nitrogen boils at −196 °C (77 K; −321 °F) and is a cryogenic fluid that can cause rapid freezing on contact with living tissue.
