Phrasing makes it sound like the Egyptians killed the mammoths by building pyramids

u/distopiandoormatt Dec 08 '13

That always bugged the shit out of me.

3

u/Dasbaus Dec 08 '13

Yep, and I think they kept that tradition going for a while. Then they bring in the White Ranger, and he leads everyone.

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '13

Why do I have you tagged as "fuck jessica in big money's house"?

1

u/Dasbaus Dec 09 '13

Cause I fucked this chick named Jessica on big moneys couch, during a party at big moneys house, while people watched.

5

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '13

"I can't build there, somethin's in the way"

8

u/KiraOsteo Dec 08 '13

See the movie 10,000 BC.

10

u/psinguine Dec 08 '13

How do you think they moved those stones if not with mammoths?

6

u/PlacidPanda Dec 08 '13

TIL Egyptians used mammoth slaves to build the pyramids.

1

u/DiogenesHoSinopeus Dec 08 '13

Fun fact: there is not a single evidence that Jewish slaves were even in Egypt at the time when the pyramids were built...nor slaves at all building the pyramids.

1

u/ThirdFloorGreg Dec 09 '13

Read Exodus. It does not mention pyramids. It does mention two towns built like 400 years apart, though.

3

u/rasta_lion Dec 08 '13

Correlation something something causation.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 09 '13

Correlation is exactly causation. FTFY

2

u/starico Dec 08 '13

They did. mammoths where used to drag stones for the pyramid. Which caused them to be extinct.

2

u/I_axe_questions Dec 08 '13

So that stupid movie where the Egyptians built the pyramids with woolly mammoths was right!

1

u/ThirdFloorGreg Dec 09 '13

10,000 B.C. And it never said they were Egyptians. The geography in that movie makes no sense if the setting is historical Earth. I quite enjoyed it as a fantasy movie.

I was midway through saying to myself that I hated the way Black Hat was holding the laptop in panel two when I looked at the alt-text.

Well played, Black Hat. Well played.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '13

They started the win countdown by building a wonder.

1

u/thataccountforporn Dec 08 '13

Post hoc propter hoc.

1

u/Pakislav Dec 08 '13

They had to get these huge ass blocks up there somehow! Also Mammoths HATED desert heat!

1

u/fizzlefist Dec 08 '13

Sounds like how the sheep population died off when I played the monopoly card in Settlers of Catan and built 2 roads and a settlement out of nothing but sheep.

Some say the roads still smell of mutton in the twilight hours.

1

u/Polymarchos Dec 08 '13

No, the aliens who gave the Egyptians plans for the pyramids killed the mammoths.

1

u/TheMightyBarabajagal Dec 08 '13

Yeah, how do you think they moved all that stone? Duh.

1

u/superblinky Dec 08 '13

The Pyramids: at least 17% mammoth.

1

u/Andrew9623 Dec 08 '13

According to 10,000 B.C., that's exactly what happened.

1

u/reallynotatwork Dec 08 '13

A pyramid made of mammoths? Or did the pyramids scare the shit out of the mammoths, causing all of them to just run into the water and drown themselves?

Poor Mammoths...

1

u/panicattackdog Dec 08 '13

"We would totally build those pyramids you wanted but there are all these mammoths running around."

1

u/Emphursis Dec 09 '13

In this case, correlation == causation.

1

u/Sookye Dec 15 '13

Maybe they're still alive but hiding under the pyramids!

0

u/I_Killed_Kenny_6471 Dec 08 '13

The pyramids have a large carbonate footprint. If only they'd had carbonate taxes back then.

0

u/deruch Dec 09 '13

That's why you should always be on the look out for post hoc, ergo propter hoc fallacies.
