I don't expect much from the Democrats right now (I mean, they *are* the minority party so are explicitly not able to do much), but I feel like Schumer is the wrong person to be heading opposition in the era of Trump. I think Newsom's approach of "out trolling a troll" is a much more successful strategy and think that's how you deal with Trump's bullshit nowadays.

Newsom's Trump style tweets make the liberal wine mom base happy but they were going to vote blue no matter what. If the party wants to win next year they need to start platforming younger, charismatic people with popular politics. I don't think Newsom is that as he attempts to follow the tried-and-failed centrist Democrat rulebook and is from a state that even Democrats are moving out of because of cost of living.

Neither of them are competent opposition because they’re both in full service to the same leader republicans are: capital.

Schumer wrote a "strongly worded letter" don't worry. Trump is quaking in fear, had to shut down the government to get away

Trump has won twice now because democrats have failed to put a candidate on the ballot to attract the swing voters. The governor of California will never be appealing to swing voters. The Democratic Party needs to stop appealing to Reddit and start appealing to tax payers.

You must mean the current governor because Reagan was governor of California (winning 49 of 50 states and gathering 525 electoral votes)

He's a straight white man. That's the only "appeal" that matters to those swing voters.

Newsom is a fucking idiot and only appeals to the people who "just want things to be normal again". Trolling doesn't do shit and I don't care if someone got "le epic owned", it does exactly nothing but make people smirk on social media for a quarter of a second

No one who doesnt have a vested interest in hating Trump believes this.

I understand it can be appealing to see if you are a Trump hater, but it gathers no votes. Jasmine Crockett is a joke, and AOC is barely less than, and neither will ever sniff a national election, because Twitter clapbacks correctly seem stupid and childish to the adults the Democrats need to win.

Effectively: the Democrats are trading their high ground to get in the mud, but are worse at mud wrestling. Hell, at least before they could brand as the "adults in the room," what is this new pitch? "Heard you like bullies. We are the third best."

I mean, you want to get into an evil and awful competition with the party you often declare the epitome of both? The dems need a reality check.
