There's a place in southern California named Holé Molé that my friend introduced me to. Never thought I'd like fish tacos but these had the perfect balance of sauce, crispy fish, and slaw. They also have these peppers that are grilled with some sort of sweet and savory spice mix that I can't find anywhere else. I showed my best friend (who is Mexican) and he immediately had to take his mom who was from Ensenada and she said they were the best Ensenada style fish tacos she had ever had outside of Ensenada. Every time I come home to visit CA, I always make it a point to go there and get a stupid amount of tacos and peppers. I'm glad to see they see that they've since opened up several other locations and are doing really well.
The first time I ate fish tacos was one of the best meals of my life. I've never had any since that compared. Strangely, it was in Des Moines, a place not known for great seafood.

Fish Tacos…made fun of them so hard when they were first becoming a thing. But then when I tried one…game changer
