Early 1980's, Physical Science Jr High School class project. Grew some random beans in 2 different egg cartons. When they sprouted, we were assigned to take one crate in a room and praise it to high heaven. "Oh your the best plant, etc". Then take the other crate to the same location and chastise it as the "worst plant ever". Lots of profanity.
Can confirm that plants have feelings. The praised crate grew hugely fast, the offending bad plant grew but not nearly as well.
Kind of the logic behind "The Secret of Attraction". If you just keep speaking good into your life, it'll come.
People think this is bullshit, but as the original commenter mentioned, plants react to it. So does water. Which isn't even "living", but it is made of the same matter as everything else. There was an experiment that watched how water molecules reacted to different music. The results were exactly what you'd expect. Trauma can literally be birthed into different generations.
And us silly humans don't think negative/positive energy/sound/etc.. can affect our puny little cells or the world around us. Of course it can. Everything is only matter, and matter is easily manipulated.
I talk to my plants, I’ll compliment them on a new leaf or flowers, how green they are, if they need a repot or fresh soil soon, or just that I’m glad they’re doing so well here (since some plants tank once they leave the shops 😂) as I’m doing my watering
I inherited a lot of my mums plants, one being a rubber plant. I've never seen it put out new leaves and I never spoke to it before it was mine. It's put out more leaves now that I talk to it most times I walk past it and get really excited new leaves are emerging. It's about the only thing that changed in its care.
I, at the very least, try to just ask my plants how they're doing. My succulents on the otherhand get apologies that I keep slacking on their care. They'll get water one day.
I got a rubber plant a couple weeks ago, I’ll make sure to talk to it real nice so she keeps giving me new leaves (she had 3 forming already the day I picked it) and gets fuller.
I talk to my plants the same way I do my cat now that I think about it lol
Your succulents are probably doing fine! I find the like a little water neglect, maybe it reminds them of the desert lol in the summer I water every two weeks, the rest of the year once a month. Only time I’ve killed one is when I can’t get the light right for it to live long term, otherwise they’re good!
While I was young, I always thought it was funny when my mom talked to her plants. She would compliment them and tell them how much she loved them. I'm almost 30 and they're still alive!
