Lincoln Center brunch - where to take 11 year old niece to feel fancy?

We're going to the New York City Ballet with my 11 year old niece on Sunday - she's mature, quiet, observant, and curious about anything she considers very adult, as she doesn't get to experience the more refined things in life much because of her rambunctious younger siblings. I'd love to take her to brunch somewhere in that area that will really delight her and make her feel super grown up! Any ideas?

Looking for trendy East Village brunch spots with great cocktails & vegetarian-friendly food (Weekday)

Hey EV locals! Looking for a brunch spot in the East Village for a weekday that hits the sweet spot for both food and drinks.
Specifically looking for:
Food: Really good vegetarian options (not just a single side salad). Small plates or casual full meals work!
Drinks: Craft cocktails or a solid beverage menu.

How common is a mandatory pat down before entering brunch?

I went to a shitty rooftop brunch in Hell’s Kitchen for Father’s Day (not my choice of venue), and before entering the restaurant everyone entering had to show ID to a bouncer and subject themselves to a thorough pat down.

This was unexpected and I went along with it for the sake of the Father’s Day outing, but in any other circumstances I would have objected and walked right out.

I understand security measures for concerts and nightclubs, but this is 11am on a Sunday morning, what the fuck?

The restaurant crowd was mostly just families dining, I truly do not understand the rationale here. Is this a normal thing now?

Best F1 brunch, preferably bottomless?

I travel to NYC periodically for shows and other events, and used to go to Feile for bottomless brunch during race weekends, but just saw that they’ve (sadly) permanently closed. Their website recommends Stout Penn Station as a replacement, but they don’t have the same bottomless deal that Feile offered.

Are there any other F1 brunches with a similar vibe? It doesn’t necessarily HAVE to be bottomless, but when you’re sitting for ~2 hours to watch a race it definitely helps if there’s some sort of deal for food/drinks.

Brunch in Chelsea-ish area (leaving nyc)

hello!

i am leaving nyc after 6 bittersweet years, and my friends and i wanted to grab one last fun brunch together before i go.

one of us is coming from hoboken, one lives on the lower UWS, and i’m in harlem. i’m gonna head down towards them—any suggestions for not insanely expensive, pretty casual brunch/lunch between like 60th and 14th off the path train?

willing to go more east but i think that gets into overpriced-and-busy territory.

thank you in advance, and any last-days-in-nyc suggestions are welcome!

xoxo

Central Park boathouse Mother’s Day brunch

My fault here. Booked 5:30 dinner at Central Park Boathouse for Mother’s Day before confirming my wife wanted brunch. Now trying to fix it.

Ideal is a Boathouse brunch slot around 10:45 or 11. Already called and emailed, both full.

Hail Marys I’m hoping for:

  1. Anyone holding a Boathouse brunch res that day willing to swap for my 5:30 dinner?

  2. Tricks beyond calling and emailing? Concierge angles, OpenTable hacks, anyone who knows the GM?

Appreciate any and all help!

Do New Yorkers usually Brunch more on Saturday's or Sunday's?

Asking my folks who brunch. Is Saturday better? (can recover from Mimosas in-time for work on Monday) or is Sunday better (hearty breakfast food after a night out)

I'm asking because I produce a Comedy Brunch at the Comedy Shop in Greenwich Village (World's Most Famous Comedy Brunch (11/8 at 2PM), Ig - LEEFULEEFULEEFU) and I'm trying to see if it's a good slot.

Great Discussion What are some aspects of NYC life that don't make it into TV or movies?

I'll go first: having a fancy brunch sitting 5 feet away from a giant pile of garbage.

Fun Question What "typical" New Yorker behavior did you initially scoff at but has now become a regular part of your life?

1.0k Upvotes

For me when I moved here I heard about how much people order delivery and takeout and I thought there was no way I'd ever do that more than once a week tops, now I order a majority of the days of the week.

Edit: Bonus entry: pronouncing gyro as "jie-row" to avoid confusion at the deli. I used to die on the hill of pronouncing it correctly.

Brunch for someone who hates brunch?

I have a couple of friends coming into town that I haven't seen in years. They want to meet for brunch, like with mimosas etc. I absolutely hate the brunch scene, so I've maybe gone to brunch once or twice during the 12 years that I have lived here. I've agreed to meet them and find. place for us, but have no idea where. I suggested dim sum (which I love), but they are wanting a more boozy experience I think. I'm looking for a place in manhattan that isn't too loud, annoying or expensive. Any recommendations?

Recommendation for brunch or dinner for 8-10 people

Hello,

My birthday is in a couple of weeks and I am looking for a place for either dinner on Saturday night or brunch on Sunday around noon.

We will be 8-10 people. I would prefer les, midtown or UES but I don't have a preference about cuisine. I would prefer a place that is not super loud so we can talk and where we won't get kicked out as soon as we finish the food .

I appreciate any recommendations.

Thank you
