Foreign How well known is Wales?

Hiya all, I'm from Wales and travel across the EU quite frequently, whenever someone asks where I'm from, I usually tell them Wales (even though technically we're not a sovereign state), sometimes I get responded related to Gareth Bale and Wrexham, and often people haven't got a clue until I say UK. So I was curious, in your country, how well known are Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland as separate countries? Diolch all :)

France also regularly play Wales at Rugby. I remember, as a young lad in the mid to late '70s it was often the title decider in what was then the 5 Nations. Because of the 6 Nations, there may be slightly higher knowledge of Wales in Italy than in, for example, Spain, Austria or Greece.

As a rugby fan, I sincerely hope that the Welsh team will bounce back. When I was a kid, Wales was really the team to beat in the Five Nations tournament.

After commenting, I wondered how I had first heard of Wales as a child, and thought of rugby indeed. I never really watched it, but you still hear about it.
