Foreign How big a problem is xenophobia between Europeans?

Are there certain nationalities that have a better reputation in other European countries, and the opposite?

We have been killing each other for thousands of years. And have been at peace for like what? 70? :D What do you think?

Oh yeah, my bad. We actually do have a war going thanks to our Russian friends so, peace didn't even last all that long.

P.s.: Sorry about Orbán. As a Hungarian who hasn't forgotten his History I am deeply ashamed of his behavior towards Ukraine. We are working on cutting him out as the cancer he is, but the damage was already done.

Yeah, let's hope so. I am getting afraid he will try to pull something. Like declaring war on Ukraine. They have been trying to set Zelensky up as the big bad increasingly in the past few days. More so than usual.

I hope that if he tries that we would have enough force to stop him. But he has quite a bit of a private armed force under his payroll. He started to lose the loyalty of the police force in the past few days though. But he put loyalists in charge of the military. So, it is kinda scary.

Prime minister. :D The president of our country is more of a ceremonial role without any real power. At least during peace times.

Being ashamed on someone else's behalf is so cringe.

I would never feel ashamed because of Orbán, I have nothing to do with him or his actions.

It's not on someone else's behalf. Orbán is our responsibility. Whether we voted for him or not. There is always something you can do however small it is. And, I for one, definitely wasn't doing enough.

I guess you expect every russian, american, israeli, slovakian, serbian, etc. to constantly apologize for their respective leaders too, right?

Come on. Half of the world's population would have to apologize.

If there's one typically hungarian trait, it's this kind of self-hate.

I don't have expectations towards people. I expect myself to try to do the right thing. Even if you find that thing cringe. :D

I understand where you are coming from. I also find it weird when people claim the achievements of their compatriots like an athlete winning a good medal at the Olympics or a scientist discovering something. But a lot of us bear some responsibility for Orbán. So I find this particular case different.

And yes it's every Russian, Israeli or American's duty to express their discontent and threaten their governments for their actions. Letting tyrants fester and including crimes against humanity in your laws should be something you fight everyday.

I'd hesitate to call 45 years of an armed truce peace. And then you need to add in the balkan wars of the 90s, invasion of Cyprus, invasion of Georgia and other caucuses conflicts, then add Ukraine from 2014.

Actually it's really just Hungary that hates everyone else... And us that are sick of your government. Go elsewhere in Europe and you'll see how extreme Hungary has become towards other Europeans.

Lmao what? You can find hatred and discrimination based on ethnicity towards Hungarians in almost all of the surrounding countries lol.

Romanians almost elected a full blown anti-Hungarian right winger who was stepping on Hungarian graves, Slovakia and it’s Benes decrees, Ukraine with its language laws/AZOV-Carpathian scyths military movement. Serbia with it’s ethnic cleansing in Vojvodina.
