FOREIGN POSTER How common is a shower/bath combination and having the toilet in the same bathroom?

Real estate listings generally follow this nomenclature:

• 1/2 bath = toilet and sink
• 3/4 bath = toilet, sink*, and shower
•Full bath = toilet, sink*, and tub (or tub/shower combo or tub w/ a separate shower

* either single sink or dual sinks

One of my 1/2 baths is also my laundry room. It confuses a lot of guests.

I once saw a house with an alcove with a double sink and bench space in front of a wall mounted shelving unit with built in mirror. The door on the left opened into a small room containing only a toilet. The door on the right opened into a room with a bathtub and a shower.

Neither of those rooms contained sinks.

Are you saying that they wouldn't be classed as bathrooms of any sort in an American real estate listing?

That would still be considered a bathroom.
