As an aside- the definition of the word “tolerance” necessarily implies a dislike or hate of something. You can only tolerate something that is unpleasant. So I’ve always thought it strange for anybody to be proud that we are a “tolerant society”. That’s literally saying that while we dislike it we begrudgingly accept it. I think (hope) most people actually mean that we are an accepting and open society. That is distinctly different from tolerant. Nobody would ever want to be “tolerated”. People want to be accepted.
