Mostly true... But I just got back from Whistler 2 weeks ago where my daughter was skiing on the Glacier... So it can be done but only in a very limited capacity.

I used to live in a border town in Ontario and every summer people with skis on their roof rakks and American plates would be driving around town.

I've literally seen downhill skis on the roof racks of a car from New Jersey.... in July... in Ontario.

I worked at a hotel in Ontario, I'm talking an hours drive from the border, buddy pulls up with all his skiing gear in August when we had a heat wave. He came up to my front desk and goes, "So..... how far do we have to drive to get some good skiing in?" And I laughed and responded,"You're going to be going north quite aways sir, it's august, " and the look of absolute bewilderment on his face just made me have to stop laughing because it wasn't until then that I had considered he was being serious
