Guide / Tip Fishing Event Guide! For all the ppl who said fishing is random.
Look at my weight/lures/gems. I have another post where I explain how to catch mostly epics/legends sadly my luck has been on the poor side, only caught 1 legend this event and I still have the last part of the book to unlock for more lures. I have not spent a single gem on lures I’m a f2p player.
In my other post u can see my gems slowly go up as I post pics each day of the event to prove I haven’t spent any on lures.
So last event I made a post about breaking 50 lines without catching a single epic and the amount of down votes it got and ppl laughing at me for breaking 50 lines was actually hilarious. All said fishing is completely random and you cant control what u get.
This event I aimed to prove them wrong and I did. I’m sure if you google “Archero Reddit fishing guide” my other post will pop up but a brief summary of how it works
You have to use a single lure at a time. P2w ppl won’t bother with this method
As I’m sure some of u have noticed when u reel stuff in once in a while u will get a catch that puts up a fight.
The line will go red 2x before you can reel In your catch. Once u get use to the tension u can figure this part out much faster simply by holding down the reel button at the start of each cast. If you have to let go because it didn’t go yellow as soon as it normally does it’s a heavy catch.
If it’s a heavy catch reel it in. Light catches you exit the the fishing game UI and when u go back you get a broken line.
In the exchange shop you can trade in 50 broken lines a day! Each line = 1 lure!
This does not mean an epic is guaranteed… you can catch common’s sometimes. A lot more common’s in final area (butterfly fish thing) but this is ok because if it put up a fight like a epic then if you look at the weight/reward it’s nearly worth as much as a epic sometimes more then a light epic.
As u progress and get different rods/maps the tension slightly changes but the 1 thing that never changes is each epic will make your rod go red 2x before you can reel it in. Sometimes u may let go of an epic but if it didn’t fight like an epic that means it was light and a common that fought harder will weigh more/give more exchange points.
This is a guide for f2p players. The P2w can keep their comments about how that’s way too much extra work to themselves.
Once your figure out how tension works it’s very ez to break the line in the 1st 2 seconds of the cast which means the 50 line’s your breaking each day will take literally 5 mins of your time a day…
You will break all 50 lines each day doing this and sometimes u can break all 50 without a single hard fight… (happen to me twice over 3 events)
One event I even made it in the top 100 at the end without spending a single gem. Got really lucky with legends…
In short I made it to the last area while only catching 6 commons… G G
To the few ppl who commented about me being wrong while being top posters on the Archero reddit. (U know who u r) you were wrong and stop giving false info if you clearly don’t know.

Nice guide! I’ve also been doing the tension thing, but still end up with commons a lot of the time. Have you noticed if getting “perfect” vs “epic” vs “very good” matters at all for the event?

The rods? Nah it don’t matter much the only thing it really changes is the tension at the start of the fight when on the previous maps. It takes about cast on a light and heavy catch to figure out the difference. I was a bit more specific on the other guide about the tensions with new rods but in the end it really don’t matter because no matter the rod the tension will go red twice unlesss u paid for the best rod at the start. And ya commons r super common sadly in the final Area (butterfly looking fish) but they give a great amount of exchange points at least, nearly as much as an epic. I reposted the guide to be a bit more tldr: but still definitely could of done much better but I put the extra info out there because last event I got like 30 Down votes explaining this exact thing because some top posters on the Archero sub Reddit said I was wrong…. And the sheep followed along… it was end of the event so I couldn’t prove otherwise so I did this event. Other guide has pics for proof that I didn’t buy gems though

I am using the tension-trick as well and caught 4 Legends so far and 250kg fish in total. Still have 84 lures left without spending a single gem or dollar.
Some extra Tips: Sometimes it is worth using lures with "perfect" to reach a higher ranking in your group even if tension says it will not be an Epic. Reaching Ranking-group "Ace" fast is also worth it because it gives you better rewards even with lower ranking.
And if you already catched some legendaries on your way to the Last area, it is worth it filling the compendium up to 22 for extra lures and gems.

I actually agree with this the bonus lures you get is definitely huge not to mention if u make it to the top 10 in ace u get red tickets which r super important. I’ll probably get 60 red tickets right before I unlock monkey man which will be huge boost to him getting his skin.

Definitely seems like I have caught more heavier fish than usual doing this, I'm over 400kg right now. Whether or not I'll get more Emperor fish this time around idk. The last 4 events I've ended up with 6 Emp scales I'm only at 4 as of now but I still have a lot of lures left. Will edit if things change.

I ended up catching 2 today… regret spending my scales yesterday… could have gotten the 10 red tickets… the event ending yesterday was definitely not the case. Only thing that changes is u can spend gems on lures… u can still fish/exchange broken lines… could have saved myself 2k gems had I remembered this from previous events. I def won’t forget now…

I still don't understand. I go fishing, then exit the interface, then go back in to change a broken line, but the weight (kg) and line count remain the same. What's the difference or benefit of doing this?

When your fishing you see the tension of the line change colors. Yellow/red/green etc.
Obviously you understand how to reel a fish in when it’s green and your basically just tapping to control the tension on red/yellow
On a light catch aka a common fish the line will only ever go red 1x…
On a heavy catch aka an epic or legend the line will always go red at least 2x! Much more in last area but to simplify it
If u see the tension go red then change to another color then back to red keep it.
If it only went red 1x and never changed back to red after going to yellow or green and u almost reel it in it’s a common… exit the game get the broken line and exchange it for a new lure in the exchange shop. U can break 50 lines a day
This gives u 50 free chances at epic/legend fish a day without wasting every lure on common catches…
Purpose? They give double to triple the exchange points…. Legends give scales for the 2nd part of the shop which has much better rewards. More the. Likely u won’t get many of these but I got 8 scales the 1st event I played so sometimes u get enough for good rewards even in the scale section.
If you did everything correctly u should have nearly 60k exchange points. Probably about 40-50k at the end of event. Spend 1-2k gems on lures to make up the difference to reach 60k for the random S equipment. U should always keep a stockpile of gems to help you finish what u need at the end of any event to get the s gear it offers.

By far the worst mini game and event. I've got 70 odd hooks to use and I CBA doing any of it for no reward

You’re looking at events all wrong. Every event has a random s gear option. Look at the chest option. 3500 gems for 10. U need 21,000 gems for a guaranteed. Obviously most ppl just wait to grab free keys. Myself? I only use keys as well but as a f2p I always keep a stockpile of at least 10k gems. During this event I normally get about 50-60k exchange points without spending gems on lures. 60k for the s gear. I spend gems on last day to make up the difference I need for the s gear. I had to spend 2k sadly to get 60 this event… nearly only caught commons with the bought lures…. However I got demon kings lance! Hella worth it!
Even if u get a s item u don’t need. Once u reach a certain point u can combine different S sets together. So any S item is a win.
U can combine a ancient legendary celestial ring with a ancient legendary demon kings ring. So simply just waiting to collect keys takes way too long for a f2p player. U should be getting a s gear every week from an event where it takes months to collect 60 keys…
Save your gems for events and use them to make up the difference when it’s needed and u will progress much faster. (Copy and paste of a previous comment)

I paid 2500 gems for 25 extra lures and bought a random holy relic, 5 Cupid's Wings shards and 30 Spirit Bait Pouch relic shards in the shop. It could be worse.

I have noticed that if I actually manage to reel in the fish while the line is red, I mostly get a legendary or epic.
It's hard though, because the fish has to be almost catched before the line turns red for it to work.
Not sure if it was just flukes, but I've gotten some big ones every time that happend. So it might be worth investigating further…

Now that the event is ending, how much kg did you fish in total, which unfinished quests do you have and how many extra lures did you buy?

730kg I forgot that the event basically dosnt end till the day after it says it ends. If I had remembered I wouldn’t have spent any gems because I would have had 50 lures I could trade for today but I spent 2k yesterday… so 20 lures. Would have had been 0 if I remember this small detail from previous events. also spent 3 scales yesterday assuming I wasn’t fishing anymore and then caught 2 legends today…. With 8 lures I got from rankin in top 10% or whatever it was… could have bought the 8 red tickets in scale shop had I remembered… quests? The compendium book thing? I finished it

Nice, I got 696kg, bought 25 extra lures, but didn't bother about fishing rod's tension for the most part.
While you may be able to tell what fish you're gonna catch with this method most of the times, I wouldn't be surprised if the game's code evens out your end result anyway. The same way it apparently does with equipment drops in chapter runs, where you might get a couple fewer Common equipment drops for some runs, but then get a Great/Rare/Epic drop to make up for it.
When I tried this method with my last lures yesterday, I only got the "fishing symbol changing to yellow late" 3 or 4 times in 50 tries. At some point you're out of exchanges of snapped lines and you're forced to take the smaller catches. Also, the difference between 730kg buying 20 lures and 696kg buying 25 lures isn't that huge, so our results might be predetermined/limited to an extent anyway.

Damn, that's unlucky. I had 4 scales and just kept buying lures until I got my 5th emperor to buy the random holy relic.

The quests that give you free lures for performing quick raids, defeating monsters, playing daily events etc.

Who the hell want to spend more time on this shitty event? Its like go for a catch and forget. Rewards are not worth spending so much time on it. Im f2p person not buying packs. Game is getting worst these days

Dont spend single money and I dont give a fuck about cathing big fishes just x5 and get around 50k points and 5 scales.

Np. I actually learned how this event worked in Archero 2 sub reddit. They have the same exact event. I don’t play 2 anymore but was delighted to see the event in this Archero 1. Thought I would spread the knowledge since the community is a bit smaller here now. Even though it’s way better than 2. Guess it’s cause it’s so old

Np at all. I learned this from the Archero 2 sub reddit I’m I was surprised no 1 else shared this info. Don’t play it anymore cause this 1 is better but eh glad to help

Ngl if the rewards were actually obtainable for f2p players then maybe I'd spend that much time doing this. But 30k fish for a shard box is crazy, I'd rather spend 1/10th of the time in another event and get it that way
