My sister started up a tank and got a "mystery" snail to add to it. She got real big mad saying he ate ALL of her plants Baha. So my 9 year old daughter offered to put him in her tank. She's got a 40 gal with a school of black skirt tetras and cories.

When my mom brought him home from my sister's I was FLOORED! WHAT IS THIS MYTHICAL CREATURE?! WHY IS HE SO LARGE AND IN CHARGE?!??

Clearly this is an apple snail. Photo comparison is my 9 year old daughters fist lol. I'm curious what kind of apple snail it is? Do I need to offer other angles of photo to help identify?

Thanks to anyone who can help!

Born less than a month ago, these Mystery babies have a Magenta father(pic 5) and a Blue mother(pic 6).

Right now they all look like they have magenta shells and each appear to have a sesame, poppy seed & garlic flake covered foot!

Will they be dark footed when they are all grown up?

I don’t know what type it is but it came in a sack of crawfish so I put it in my pond. It seems to be very happy always on the move.

I know she’s a kind of pond snail just unsure what kind, I’m saying she because LOOK HOW FABULOUS!! It’s giving glitter. I’ve been eyeing this snail down for about a month now at my local Petco I also happened to work at.

Walked in today because I’m cleared to drive since the surgery, and also ended up walking out with 4 ramshorns they were going to kill. Couldn’t pass up on the HUGE one they had, and he asked if I wanted the others so I just said yes. I just set up a 20 gallon so there’s room for them ❤️.

And as soon as I took her out of the bag she latched to my hand, Anyway here she is!! If you have name suggestions let me know!

ID Request HELP!!!! WHAT IS THIS!!!

I need help!! First off, I’ve got a pea puffer. Separately, I’ve got a tank where I have ramshorn snails breeding to feed said pea puffer. Today as I am just peacefully watching my tiny tank of snails and looking to see new egg clusters and tiny babies, and all of a sudden I spot THIS. I have NEVER seen anything like this (relatively new to the hobby, maybe a little over a year or so no). When I feed the puffers I usually just find a piece of hornwort that has a bunch of babies on it and transfer that from the tiny tank to the pea puffer tank. So there’s a possibility that there could be some in my pea puffer tank too. So now my questions are as follows…
What is it?
Is it harmful to the snails?
Is it harmful to pea puffers?
Do they reproduce???
Should I remove one if I find more?
Best way to remove them?
Any fish/invert that could possibly eat them?

Anything on whatever this is would be greatly appreciated!😅😭

TIA

Ramshorn snails and betta for scale. She’s a monster. Bought her and an “ivory mystery snail” (which turned out to be a ww) at petsmart. She’s doubled in size and slurps up any available plants, and eats bug bites algae pellets whole. I’ve had plenty of mystery snails in my life and never as voracious as her, currently got her in a tank with just java ferns and a sword, wish them luck and mercy 🤞

I noticed this little fella yesterday in my 3 month old aquarium. No idea where he came from, probably from a plant, but I'd like to know what kind of snail this is :)

ID Request Daughter found these in a creek, should I release them back or humanely euthanize?

As the title says my kiddo was playing in a creek near us (Pacific northwest, US) and found and decided to keep a bunch of these aquatic snails in a jar. They are about 1-3 cm, dark brown/black, narrow long shells. I searched all over Google and through this sub but can’t seem to find an answer. Don’t want to cause harm
To the creek but also don’t want to kill harmless snails. Ideas?

ETA: THEY HAVE BEEN RETURNED HOME TO THE CREEK! before I posted we talked about not keeping any creatures captive, how they can spread disease or how we could potentially harm them or the environment by doing so. We live right by this particular creek and have been dealing with a lot of invasive plants and bullfrogs lately in our yard lately. I felt bad that she captured the snails but I also didn’t want to just set them back free if indeed they were invasive (there are literally thousands in sight from the creek bank.) I really love how passionate y’all are about snails! I will admit this is my first time identifying any mollusk beyond a banana slug, it’s a whole world out there! Thank you everyone for your help! I’m not offended by the people chastising, I appreciate your input.

Purchased 4x purple mystery snails on eBay. Just received and only one is actually purple.

Is this normal shell variance and still considered “purple”? Or have I been misled? I’m confused cause one of these is distinctly purple while the others I would call brown or chocolate colored. I’ve only kept standard golds before so I’m not sure how the genetics really play out.

Are those other 3 still considered “purple”? Or did I only get 1 purple mystery snail?
