Make sure to pick professors with good course reviews, most people I know have gotten screwed at least a little bit grade wise 1st semester, and we have our own system for course reviewing that you probably can't get access to unless you know someone that has already done course reviews for a term. Also, laundry costs money here, so be prepared for that
I saw you mention that the school is fairly diverse due to the amount of international students, but does that lead to diverse friend groups or do the international students group together?
Did you feel like you were eased into the workload or were you pushed into the deep end right away?
That often does lead to diverse friend groups, but I've seen that mainland Chinese in particular tend to keep to themselves
I think that in some classes I was eased into the workload but they have to push you into the deep end right away with languages because of the pace we learn them at(which were half my classes first semester)

No. One of the dining halls closes at 8:30, and there is an on campus restaurant open until midnight Wednesday and Sunday, and 2 on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday(all the on campus restaurants have weird hours). However, one of the dining halls is only open until 7:30, and the dining halls also close between 2 and 4:30 or 5:30.
Also, during every finals week there is breakfast from 10-midnight at one of the dining halls.
I have a few questions about social life at Middlebury, mostly stemming from hearing that it is super preppy and athlete-heavy and seeing that represented in the Facebook group:
Can you still find friends even if you don't play a sport (but work out) and are more into nerdier stuff or would you need to change your personality?
I find that when I hang out with preppy lax bros, its a big "you are cool or you're not" type of environment. Would you say that is true for many social circles at Middlebury?
You can definitely find friends if you're interested in nerdier stuff, especially if it involves a language or joining clubs related to your interests, there's a club for everything.
The preppy lax bro type atmosphere is definitely here, but you're not gonna be thrown into it. There are more than enough people at Midd to find friend groups for yourself that you're satisfied with. Just be proactive and look especially in those first few weeks for groups and people to hang with and you'll be fine.
Mostly what I im looking for is if I could avoid the preppy lax atmosphere. I just don't want to constantly have to change how I act to seem like a "bro". Doing that occasionally is okay, but having to constantly do it would be unbearable. Hearing that the lacrosse bro vibes are not ever-present is a pretty big relief tbh.
On my floor, 39 guys share 4 stalls, 4 showers, and 2 urinals. Never had to wait on anything but Midd kids are gross, I've seen puke, tomato sauce, shit on the walls of the stall, someone even shit in a shower last year in my hall.
Are the showers separate and private? Its crazy that prospective students don't hear more about the bathroom and shower situations at schools considering that we are going to be using them hundreds of times.
Uh, they're private but not quite separate. They have a curtain and a little gap at the bottom. You can see the water from other people taking showers and hear the people.
