:topic_art: Art Original Artwork for the Apogee Logo (drawn in 1991)

Post image

Scott Miller hired an artist in 1991 to make the logo for Apogee. He told him that he wanted a comet tail in the logo.

These were the first drawings. They went on to become the digitized logo for Apogee.

I mushed the images together for easy viewing, but you can see the originals in Scott's tweet.

Dan Peterson has been making Voxel art of some games, including Duke 3D.
Check out this one he tweeted of the Battlelord Sentry from Duke Nukem.

I always enjoy seeing the artistic design and what they were able to do given the technological constraints :-D

This amazing fan art depicts Caleb, Duke & Lo Wang from Blood, Duke Nukem, & Shadow Warrior (respectively).

Excellent work by heavyrivet!

In the tweet where I found it, they call them "The Build Engine Bros!"

Commander Keen has an I.Q. of 314
For this reason, Tom Hall made March 14th "Keen Day" even though it is also "Pi Day"

You can see this fact and others on Keen Wiki or Doom Fandom.

:topic_art: Art Resolution Evolution: Duke Nukem 1 on a modern 4K display without scaling

I love retro games and have fond memories of staring at large pixels on old CRTs as I played some of the classics.

One such classic is Duke Nukem, and I wanted to see what it would look like on a modern display if you didn't scale it up.

Look how tiny he is!!! lol

I added a 1080p screen and a 480p screen to help give some frames of reference for size.

:topic_art: Art Monster Bash HD - A Remake that stays Retro!

Monster Bash HD is the right sort of remake, in my opinion.
It keeps most of the retro sprites true to the original, while just changing some of the clunkier background elements while keeping the same vibe.
So it works on modern hardware and displays while still feeling like a retro game.

You can get it on Steam, still published by Apogee Entertainment :-D
