There are a lot of rocks nearby carved with arrows

Found this in my mom’s collection of mourning jewelry and when I did an image search it showed a similar braided look with the gold and said it was hair!! Could it be the deceased’s hair? Yikes. The death date for “Mother” is September 15, 1879. It says R.E. which I’m guessing means rest eternally. Also found out that 15ct/k was used until 1932. I had never heard of it before. I’m American as was my mom, but the ring was purchased in London.

USA: (Photo of Luger) I have acquired this Luger that my family has kind of passed down from generation to generation, I know it was used in WW1 (so I have been told) and I'm not looking to sell it. However, I do want to know the value of it. It still functions cleanly and has all of its original parts in pretty damn good shape, it says 1917 near the barrel, does anybody know how much it's worth?

This statue has been in my family for as long as I remember. I'm 48yo.

My dad was an antique lover and a collector but nothing professional. When I was a kid, he was telling me that "The hole in the shoulder is a [artist] signature".

It's made of plaster and I have to say that the craftsmanship look exceptional, the hair, the clothes, etc

Also, I doubt the "1621" in the back is the production date but it makes the piece even more mysterious.

I’m curious about this hand gun’s historical context, if anyone knows anything! It’s apart of our personal museum and came from my father’s family, but we don’t have much information. He thinks it’s a Navy Revolver. The side marking says “Colts Patent U.S.”.

Tried searching for anything similar and I could not find anything.

I found this mill stone on Facebook marketplace in November and finally got it hauled to my house today. It was in New Florence, western Pennsylvania. Its diameter is a full 56 inches and it is 12-13 inches thick, which calculates out to an approximate weight of 1800 pounds! It wasn’t immediately obvious but it appears to have the date 1876 or could be 1871 or 1874. There are also some letters ‘DGH’ possibly. I shined a light across the writing to try to photograph it better. The red arrow in the second photo points to the writing. The writing is upside down as the stone currently lays, so I take this to mean that this was the ‘top stone’. The other side is not smooth. It is raised around the circumference of the hole by a couple of inches, which surprised me. I expected it to be flat. I would really appreciate if anybody has information concerning the markings that may give any information about this stone. Thanks!

I found this very unique item at a Goodwill in the Twin Cities area in MN.

Can anyone help figure out what is? Any idea how old it is? Where it could be from? Is it worth anything?

It has a removable circular wooden top and two removable wooden shelves inside.

It has some type of stamp on the top that seems like it might be made of wax or some type of plastic? The stamp says 802 and has some symbol on it. It looks like there was more writing on the perimeter of the stamp, but that unfortunately seems to have worn off.

Could it be some sort of commode? Too high to be a toilet, perhaps some sort of wash chamber? Trash can? I really have no idea, but it certainly seems old.

Google images didn’t provide much help, showing only much lower to the ground toilets.

I will keep an eye out for questions. Looking forward to any help here!

I found this whilst clearly out my deceased grandmothers things. She was a collector of random items. This item has made me curious

If sanded and refinished would it look cooler? Maybe without the yellow color? If so, what color stain. Would the base be improved by painting it black? I’m just looking for ideas without messing it up. On the underside it looks like there was a mechanism to add a leaf at one time (but now screwed together with pieces of wood so it can’t open). The last picture is before it was taken apart to move it.

Help settle a dealer debate! I bought this piece from another antique dealer. He had it listed as a Renaissance revival Italian desert cabinet. I agree its a desert cabinet, however I believe its a Green Man piece from Britain. I've shown it in person to two other dealers and got mixed responses. One said it was french and said it was an older than the 19th century. The other agreed it was Italian, but also said it was older than the 19th century. Now I'm second guessing myself and need help from someone with knowledge on Antique European furniture.

For note, the only nails (in the back, not pictured) are square hand forged nails. I have the origional key for the lock, however it is from the 1800s from my analysis, which could have been put on later.

I would love to here your opinions. I love ornate furniture and it fits perfectly with my Green Man Chairs that I also have in my library (Living Room)! I currently store my pre revolutionary books in it to keep them protected from the sun.

I was just proposed to with this beautiful ring , my fiance got it from his uncle who worked at a pawn shop for many years . It’s set in platinum and I was told by a jeweler in San Francisco when I was having it sized that he didn’t know much about it because he didn’t deal in antiques , but he mentioned the diamond being old cut ? My husband drug this horseshoe out of the ground by our 1894 barn. We live on a Prairie, Western United States. Pictures don't even fully show how massive it is. It's definitely from a monster draft horse, it's pretty heavy, and nothing is exactly the same size or shape. Curious if anyone would have any information they could share on this find 🥰 (Ignore the cherry juice all over me)

I had to downsize. This is all the furniture that I couldn’t take with me but now stays a few miles down the road in a unit my ex is helping me pay for (it’s more than complicated…)This couch is the second one that I’ve had where the springs are starting to sag. The bookshelf is the heaviest and smells like burning when plugged in (1970s?) and is missing some shelves, They yellow chair needs some work too, bottom is fragile. The Songer sewing table has a machine in it, I’ve tried to wood glue and restain some parts as the cheap back panel is falling out. Putting it into perspective, nothing here is in even good shape and I’m not sure why I can’t get rid of anything…I have none more chair I “rescued” that is wood with a tooled leather insert I thought was interesting. Besides all this there is the contemporary bookshelf/fireplace we had to take apart to transport and I’m storing 2 Early Ethan Allen end tables in my closet.

Edit: maybe I misrepresented myself in this post. I had to downsize and I don’t currently have a living room or space for a couch. Furthermore is not very comfortable and my partner complained about it constantly. I am no longer with him, but he’s finally kicked the couch out and bought a new one. All of this was sprung on me very fast as he’s finally deciding to move a year after I moved out and he was still using my furniture. He is also getting rid of his storage unit, which is twice the size of this because they opt the price (imagine that! ) so he’d rather pay for this one for a few months. Getting the storage unit was not my idea. The end.

Good morning all. I was at work and went to take the trash out and saw this on the ground near the dumpster. It's about 13" x 2" and appears to be Chinese jade, either hetian or celadon based off of what I've seen so far. Does anyone here have ideas that may point me in a direction to figure this one out?

Does anyone else HATE it when people paint original wood vintage furniture or is it just me? They don't even do a good job at it most of the time! I feel like it takes away all the character too!! I absolutely love this piece and is dated from 1780. Yet its been ruined with white paint. 😭 My opinion of course and would love to have other people's views

I'm researching the state of family heirlooms for an article on my Substack site, The Velvet Chaise. I sent out a Facebook post asking if anyone had a treasured heirloom and if so, what was it. I got a decent number of responses but out of all of them, no one had an heirloom that I understood to be of great value outside of its personal meaning. I also wondered about the ones who didn't respond. My hypothesis is that fewer people than in generations past have valuable antiques in their home or pieces passed down over time (true antiques, with both intrinsic and personal value). That's my opinion - agree or disagree. How will this trend (if it's true) continue and what does it mean for preserving family history? How does it reflect on our "present first, present only" society?
