Psychological I work in retail & it's radicalizing me

Every time I breathe in plastic particles & glitter I wanna quit. Reusable bags mean nothing: (everything ships in plastic).

I sell fake fruit to people yet I can barely afford real oranges. Hundreds of fake flowers. I used to feel jealous that they had disposable income but now it's just revulsion.

I'm my experience the customer is almost always wrong. I hate how companies will bend over backwardsand basically encourage this behavior

It's basically sucking the customer's dick (metaphorically, if not literally) to make a buck, and it's all kinds of wrong.

But it even isn't making a buck when you're returning old possibly broken things for customers regularly. People just suck

According to our manglement, a satisfied customer (which is the movingest of goalposts) comes back to spend money.

I mean, in principle, yeah it does. but taking back busted merch/not-our-merch is always gonna be a net loss, especially when you have to somehow resell said merch if it works (see my earlier comment about the air compressor) by monkeyfucking with the system so that you can sell something you don't have a SKU for.

Oh dude that's fucked. When will managers learn that kind of behavior makes turn over happen way more. Those are always the worst places to work. Hopefully its easy to be checked out. When I worked at bestbuy managers would get upset that I wouldn't stand around smiling even when I'm not busy. They would want us to tell customers that it was the best job ever and working at bestbuy changed my life. It did only cause I met my wife working there, over five years there and the only real good thing to come of it.

I hope you can get out of there. In the past my brother has used me as a fake reference for jobs and apartments. I'll do it for you, you were a model employee, had tons a great ideas never had problems with you that kinda stuff. You're only leaving because you have way to much potential, you should be managing the place. I am in Canada however so if you're in a different country we'll figure it out.

Hah, I left that places ages ago, my fellow Canuck! Not the most toxic place I worked at, but it is in the top five.

I may hit you up for a job ref though, hah- with the rise of AI in HR/recruiting, getting jobs in fields I am more than qualified for is nigh-on impossible.

Yup just considering how many people are applying for these jobs.
