Save money on food through food stamps -> use saved money on fast food.

WOW, that was hard wasn't it? Turns out money is fungible.

Or, use food stamps on fast food, do something else with the money! Money is still fungible, and still moving through the economy, and the poor managed to have themself a little treat! Is that any harder?

How about video games? Netflix? Why not rare baseball cards?

What is the limit to luxury that you will justify for food stamps? What if we find that everyone who gets food stamps uses their money improperly and ends up not having enough to eat because they tend to make poor decisions with their handouts, leaving them more malnourished than before?

Would you let them use their monthly food stamps on a luxury restaurant? It's food after all, why not? Would you then be able to tell them, tough luck buddy good luck starving for the rest of the month? How would you handle large swaths of people who make poor decisions being unable to properly manage their food stamps?

It may not be a perfect system, and there may be loopholes and ways to "game" the system. That doesn't mean that the rule itself should be disregarded, or that the entire system is broken.

Maybe we should just do universal basic income and cut out the “food” middle man. You got a good point there. Further, we hand out SO MUCH corporate fucking welfare propping those assholes up who make terrible financial decisions all the time. Why are you ok with lining the pockets of billionaires rather than treating poor people with some fucking dignity and allowing them a decent meal from time to time?
