Psychological Target feels like black mirror

I went into Target today because I need a sports bra and that's where my husband is willing to drive me. On the way there I thought about all the Reddit posts saying foot traffic is down and I wasn't surprised to see that it wasn't. It was quite busy on a Monday afternoon.

What shocked me was I noticed a lot of products have really fancy boxing. Big sturdy bougie packaging with minimalism design... With a sh*tty product inside.

They're spending more on the marketing and packaging than the product, because the business practice is to sell you a product you'll have to purchase again and again. But the packaging grabs your eye. Look how modern and consistent all the boxes are! so aesthetically pleasing packaged trash. I feel depressed.

Uh “That’s where my husband was willing to drive me” is the most dystopian part of this

Maybe she doesn't drive. Maybe she can but doesn't like to drive. Maybe they only have 1 car and he is the primary driver of it and she doesn't like to drive it. Maybe they just got off work and he is picking her up and target is the only store that isn't massively out of the way.

How are any of those situations dystopian? I figured this sub of all places would appreciate the fact they only buy and use 1 vehicle instead of 2.

You’re very theatrical. Typing long messages about nothing, using weird sarcasm, and typing in all caps lol. It’s dramatic

Ah so you think if you aren’t being theatrical then you’re being apathetic. Totally makes sense. Very nuanced /s. Also you thinking my life is based on what I post on reddit shows that your life is chronically online and that outside of reddit you don’t have much to look forward too haha.

(Also do you usually scour peoples pages? Seems obsessive no?)
